Re: Push & Ableton Live 9 Intro Licence

I currently have Live 8 Lite (LaunchPad Edition). My upgrade price for the Push with Live Intro is the same price I am seeing advertised everywhere. I guess that is because Live Lite was a freebie included with my LaunchPad.

If I get Push with Live Intro, how much am I missing out on the full Push experience? Sure, Live Standard and Suite offer more instruments, effects but I think once I buy into Push with Live Intro, the upgrade price for Standard and Suite might be better. Maybe? Or should I just bite the bullet and buy Push with Live Standard or Suite.

The context of all this, as mentioned in another thread up here, is that I am weighing purchase of a Maschine with lots of instruments versus Push with Live Intro and its limited list of instruments. Thanks to all the positive comments about Push, I'm leaning that way now myself. I'm aware of all the arguments about Maschine versus Push, Maschine being different from Push or the same or somewhat, etc. I tend to do a bit of over-think when making a purchase like this.

Unfortunately, I don't live near a place like Guitar Center where I can check these out.

My apologies if this should be posted elsewhere.

@potemkin64 -yeah, you probably could have started another thread for you inquiry.

But to give you an opinion...I am an avid ableton user (suite) and have had maschine since version 1.1 (its at 1.8 now and a lot has happened along the way). I think if you are going to get Push you should seriously consider entering in at the Standard or Suite level. Intro, like Lite, is really really cut back. Some of the very best things of Live are not there. That said, although I so love Live, if you have nothing else right now, Maschine is a really solid entry for the price and will be fully functional.

i picked up a Push (locally) on friday and quickly realized that i want//need the suite instead of just live intro. ok, so here's where the mess started. my forum account uses an old email address that i no longer use (i still have access to it, it's just a spambox now) and i didn't realize that logging into the forum would log me in with this email for the WHOLE ableton site. consequently, i purchased live 9 under a different email address than the one my push is registered to. it's one of those things that i noticed right after i hit submit on the final payment screen. :|

i called ableton and they said that they would merge the 2 accounts and see what to do about the difference in price, but i had send a support ticket. :|

i sent that yesterday morning and after getting a little bit impatient i rang them up again today. this time the rep told me that the only way to get the bundle upgrade pricing is to buy the push and suite 9 at the same time and since i didn't there wasn't really a way to get this sorted. he asked me to scan my Push receipt and email it in and they'll see if they can either credit me or give me ableton credit or something. however, he said that he had no guarantee that any of this would happen since he'd have to talk to his manager.

what i proposed was just refunding my order under the wrong account and i'll repurchase the live 9 upgrade under the right account, but he didn't think that'd work.

all in all, this is a mess (mostly my fault, i know) but i'm not sure why it takes support so long to respond OR why the phone reps can't just do this over the phone.

the only real question i have is if i do end up getting the 'upgrade suite 9', will i need intro installed to install suite 9?
just wanted to update this and say that Ableton sorted it out for me :). mega happy with the push.

bump.

I just want to say I'm another Push consumer who wants the $99 Live 9 Intro software even though I have Live 9 standard.

I already got the standard message from Ableton Support.

I'll keep bugging them.
