I still can't get over Techno Animal, I am absolutely addicted to Justin Broadrick and Kevin Martins brand of Beats, Acid, and Noise
Weird, I did a James Plotkin CD cover once (was done through a friend, I don't know him). I don't think I've ever listened to it, pretty sure I have a few copies stuffed in the bottom of a drawer somewhere, I'll have to dig 'em out.
James Plotkins various projects are pretty broad. The only thing they all have in common is that they are all left of center. The closest to "normal" music that I have heard by him is Flux(electro-pop with female vocals). Go to www.metaltracks.com to hear OLD. Its not metal, they were just on Earache records so...

Jesu, Its pretty much the same thing as Godflesh but more melancholic than angry I would say.

discovery: bohren und der club of gore. excellent ultraslow moody jazz stuff. saw them live as afterparty band at a mogwai concert (another fantastic band) and found their albums a few months ago. very minimalistic drums (brushes), two basses (or doublebass), rhodes, melotron and sax.

if god existed, he would be named frank zappa (btw, ben, FZ's 15th birthday present was a phone call to E. Varèse  ). every listen is a new discovery.
Venetian Snares new album - csillag llat szletett is excellent. Cut-up classical chamber music with insane drillnbass breaks
although the new venetian snares album is a great album, better than 99,9% of all other stuff, it's average compaired to his 'winter in the belly of a snake'... classic, imho.

How would you say Ultra Low Track... is compared to his other stuff(Venetian Snares). That is the only one I have heard and it does not really excite me. Mega complex and warp speed drum programing just doesn't do it for me. I don't really like Aphex Twins Drukqs and Big Loda is the best and really the only Square Pusher I listen to. Drill and Bass was cool when it was new. But now it feels played out to me. To me it seems the excitement of Drill n Bass went just as quick as tempo of it. Wow! that was cool, Wow now I'm tired of it. Or maybe its just not for me.

Not so much of a discovery as a continuation, but Richard Devine's "Cautella" is quite nice.

Also, not new, but most folks haven't heard of them, and I think they're awesome... a japanese band called Soft. "Bonjour Boshanfarm" is a great album, and their most recent "He Looks Daughter, I Eat Chicken" is far more subdued, but also a very good album, imo.

The new Zub Zub album is also quality ish.

So someone else is a fan of OLD around here? Amazing. Haven't heard anything new since "Calastamy Grab Bag."

I beleive James Plotkin just does a few albums of whatever project and then moves on to something else. Good way to keep yourself from stagnating in the same shit over and over....

well, a few years ago, a friend showed me his venetian snares 'collection'. nice mini cd packages and full cd's, and after some listening, it was this 'winter...snake' album that, completely blew me away. the other stuff was quite ok too, but you can't buy everything. maybe ULT was one of those. anyway, WITBOAS, is not the drill'n'bass stuff mentioned. it has these frantic beats, but this album is so diverse... soundscapes, nick cave like vocal tracks, 'minimal' electronics, mayhem,... mmmmmm. it's a musical journey.

Cool, I'll have to check that one out then. Also, there is V.S. album that is hardcore techno right? Whats the name of it? I'd love to hear Mr. Funks skills applied to that genre.
