here's an analogy with travelling (just came back from vacation)
The first time I travelled, even if it was just for a weekend around the corner, I had a suicase about 3 times my size and provisions for 6 months...
But the more I travelled, the lighter my backpack got.
I just threw away the uneeded stuff coz I know exactly what I need.
I think it's the same with music. As you said yourself, first, you have to go through carrying all the unneeded stuff, but then, as you get some maturity, you ditch most of your set up to keep only what you really need.
That being said, is it good to force this process and formulate rule? Dunno... I lrealy ike some of the ones you made up, but I feel a danger to become unflexible and boring after some time. Just like Dogma, actually...
Dogma's rules were wayyyy too self-conscient to be sincere. It was just a little trick pulled by ironic, post-modern Scandinavian hipsters. If you take a close look at their rules, they are full of totally absurd contradictions...
