For those with push are you going to just use this as a clip launcher and the push as a keyboard controller / MPC pads?

I see no point in acquiring more gear. I already have a great 8x8 clip launcher that I can instantly switch to - on Push.

I have an APC40 right next to it that I could use as a clip launcher, but I never do.

Did they ditch the footswitch input from the original? Kind of sucks if so, I use mine for Looper all the time.

Meh. Id be interested if it had 8x 6 knobs that doubled as push buttons instead of this button grid. The knobs could have leds inside gloving on the top. Personally dont use session buttons much live. I prefer tweaking knobs live, and needs lots of them. It would be such a great tool both for the studio and the stage if it was like that. I sold my apc 40 and I will not be purchasing this, nor push. I ended up always just using the 8 macros, the rest just eats up precious space. ATM I prefer a keyboard and a micro kontroll, until someting more in line with what I want comes along. (Basicly a ton of knobs) Im always using the 8 macros with controll surface intergration, on every track everywhere. I have realy no need for anything but more knobs, like a midi version of a hardware mixer. It looks great but not for me. I hope they listen but I doubt it. Maybe im alone in wanting this. Anyway, it amazes me why so few if any produce solid mixer exentric controllers. After all these Live controllers are dj centric controllers are they not? Well I see these ableton live controllers pushing more towards an american or hiphop mpc style layout then a european'ish house, techno, club dj style mixer layout. Nothing wrong with that, but id love a mixer centric controller too.. Being a pro euro style techno dj for almost 25 years there are certain layouts id highly prefer. Asking me to perform on an mpc style controller is like asking the guitarist to play the keyboard. Its not happening.

For traveling I would love a micro version with only the 8 macro knobs. Tiny one, like a cigaret box.

Looks smaller than the first version. I don’t know why they stuck with just the 5 scene layout.

I also don’t know why I think performance demands at least 8 scenes…the metric system of music. As an American I should like a count that doesn’t conform to any kind of logic or consistency.

I find the software layout of the original APC to be really interesting.

The faders send 07 (volume) on midi ch 1-8. And the Channel Selector is Really crazy. Whichever channel it is on, the device control knobs transmit and retin position for that channel. This is in non-Live mode as a generic midi controller. I use mine with BeatMaker2 on iphone now.

As for parameter jumping. I guess it depends on how you use it. If you always use the same 8 channels and Only rely on the faders for level change (live performance situation), that's one thing. But if you have an arrangement, automation, or are switching amongst session channels, I can see it becoming a headache.

When I had the apc 40 I used the fades hard coded (blue midi learn) to 8 pre-defined groups. (Kick, bass, snare, hats, leads, fx, and so on) Same with solo and mutes. To not have it jumping arround. And I hate clicking through sections, thats a no go in my workflow; Everything must have one dedicated function. Exept the macros. This worked great for me both for jaming and for studio daw jugling. Now im just using a korg micro kontrol. It does the same job on a much smaller space. The fades are crap though, but I mostly use the solo/mutes anyway. Above all the 8 macros and those are just fine on the korg.

Yup, that did indeed bother me a lot. No way I was going to exert and mental effort to try and remember each of my racks' parameters. Of course one can look at the monitor, but not ideal. Fortunately Push addressed this.
