Re: Bitwig is the Killa!
Actually firstly, MAX is extremely useful and there are loads of very good devices if you know how to look for them. It also allows users to easily create devices to address their own custom needs. Yes, thank god Bitwig doesn't yet allow users to customise things.xzusa8ky wrote:Thank god that Bitwig has no MAX. Take a look at the MAX site, its looks like the site was made by children? And the most of the free MAX devices are programmed by amateurs, and the few which are nice costs money and are mostly full with bugs, that take ages to fix, just like Live, thats not a cool concept if you ask me.jestermgee wrote:I really love how MAX devices and Push work with Bitwig.. Wait, they don't? Could have sworn they did since Live and Wig are the exact same things!!!!
What's that... They are completely different DAWs. Ah well apples and oranges.
Let the pointless wars on the daws continue. As you were.
Push is an AKAI product and not an Ableton only product. If Ableton decided to make their own controllers you would still wait for it!. And if you want you can use your AKAI controller in Bitwig too.........
"Dont push me cos im close to the edge".............
Secondly, Push is an ABLETON product that happens to be manufactured by AKAI. Ableton designed and built the prototypes, programmed the software to work with it and created the API layers for the plug and play integration with Live. No setup needed! AKAI did the hardware manufacturing because Ableton do not own a manufacturing plant. It's called a partnership.
Funny how you are fighting for a piece of software and complaining about how buggy another piece of software is when you choose to use an older version of the software that has also had a HUGE number of bug fixes since Live 8. Not only that the Ableton programmers are also listning to their community through the Beta program and fixing many issues we users are bringing them (look at the latest Beta bug fixes). Perhaps the process has not been that great in the past but neither have many users attitudes of users who think everything should work and work NOW!!!
If you like another software package, hey good for you, go and use it. What I don't get is why you feel the need to post your outdated argument on why an older version of Live is not as "good" as another product. Perhaps if you update 2 years and then do a comparison it would be more applicable.
Re: Bitwig is the Killa!
But what I don't understand is I too used 8. In fact, what got me HOOKED on live (after a hiatus) was when 8.4x64 came out. I ran my little live 8x64 beta into the ground, it was stable as hell, and then said f....it, I'm getting suite.
It's been a relatively happy story every since. I admit, I'm not the most complex user in history, but when I use it it does what I ask it to.
Again, more power to whoever uses bitwig. I just don't understand this need for a mass exodus of everyone else just because one (or even a group) of people are fussed.

Re: Bitwig is the Killa!
What i find funny is that some people takes it so personally when i post my opinion? This post is not a post about which software someone should use, moreover my personal experiences with another DAW which is based on the same principals as Live. Offcourse we have to look, test, and talk about what other companys are rolling out on the market, thats a normal process which i guess should be no problem for eighter Ableton, Bitwig or any user of the products. Only if we stay openminded and critical we will move forward, and we will all benefit from posts like this, even if its another DAW than Live we are talking about. Why should i not mention the things and features which i find mindblowing and amazing in Bitwig? I am a Live user since version 1.0 and allways thought that Live would be a great software to work with, and it is sometimes when everything works together, but it is also a fact that it is now more than 10 years that Live was released and alot of things still aint working like it should, and thats why i write this post, i dont think it is right to earn money with software which only works for a smaller amount of the users, thats not a fair deal for us users who actually believed in the concept since day one. I guess that i am not alone with this opinion, who wants to realize that he/her was spending his/hers money on the wrong company because they just couldnt make what they promissed in the first place, i dont. We only got words to explain what we want or not want, nobody will read your mind or take notice of you if you dont say what you think, simple as that. Why not try both DAWs and if you like them both, then why shouldn't you support both companys? Every user should have their own opinion on which DAW they like the most and how they work, and thats good that way, also called "Freedom" to do what you like the most.......Making Music!

But let's be fair, though you are obviously not a new member that is just trolling, you started YET ANOTHER bitwig thread and have come across pretty soap-boxish. It's cool and all, but you can't expect people not to reply.xzusa8ky wrote:What i find funny is that some people takes it so personally when i post my opinion?

Some of us have no issue with another DAW addressing other users requirements. Brilliant, it will clear out some of the users clogging up the boards.
For some of us, Live has been great and has only been improving. I have never found they don't listen, why they have actually personally addressed a couple of my issues with the MCU scripts amongst other common user related issues. Maybe it's the way users ask/act/demand on some things. They have some more to go but I can also appreciate for a software program that has a 10 year build history and such broad range of integration with many software and hardware platforms that you can't just go in and start mucking with shit.
Your title "Bitwig in THE Killa" basically implies that Bitwig is set to Kill Live. Your comments about how rubbish MAX and the design of a MAX site are also your opinions (which BTW really have nothing to do with your claim you are just offering insight into this new DAW you have found.... Sounds like pointless bashing to me).
Point taken, you like this new DAW and believe it is better than Live 8. I'm on Live 9 and happy so I will see what the guys over there can do to impress me. Your argument isn't really doing the trick.
Re: Bitwig is the Killa!
No No.....I hope that people reply, thats what i like about postings and discussion like this one, the only thing i dont like that much is when people take it too personally, and tries to make a fool of people who is trying other alternatives to Live, thats a bit ignorant i think...No Hard feeling!eyeknow wrote:But let's be fair, though you are obviously not a new member that is just trolling, you started YET ANOTHER bitwig thread and have come across pretty soap-boxish. You should read before posting! Wrong titel! You wrote ; "Bitwig in THE Killa" But it should be "Bitwig is the Killa" or? and it means that Bitwig is a killer DAW for me, nothing else!.....And you are funny! If i didnt get your attention, why would you then write a comment on it, doesent make sense, Point taken.......sorry! And just to your information, i am working with Live 9 since they released it........ Not in my signature "Dr. Holmes".jestermgee wrote:Exactly.eyeknow wrote:But let's be fair, though you are obviously not a new member that is just trolling, you started YET ANOTHER bitwig thread and have come across pretty soap-boxish. Well, I for one think it's great that you've found your riker (that's number one for people that remember star trek) and I think maybe there is some possible language barrier stuff going on here. I'm all for bitwig. Let 'em light a fire under live's behind........couldn't support it more!

That was my thread on KVR. Funken was the one that ruined it. I'm actually the one who started that thread, and I did so with the best of intentions.
Funken ruined a thread?!
