So the short answer is NI are not wanting Maschine to compete with Live in terms of an arrangement, they see it as a 'groove box', (serious whatthefuckever there, most groove boxes allow you to arrange your patterns and scenes into songs), though long answer is apparently they are working on implementing some sort of way outside a DAW to arrange everything into a song without mousing around. Should come out before Maschine 3.0 so that's good news.
Yeah it's quite a bizarre response, even Geist has a song mode and it's not regarded as competition for Live, don't think anyone would see it as that. Just allow us to turn of loop mode at least!

I remember NI mentioning that, i think they're working on a ststem that integrates Maschine, Komplete Kontrol and Traktor iirc.

I upgraded from the mk2 to the Studio and it sure is an amazing box. Those screens tho!!!!' : )

For some reason I'm always trying to streamline my set up. Break it down to necessities. It's like the more gear I have the more anxious I become and I feel like I HAVE TO use every piece of gear. I'll feel guilty if I don't. I'm fucking mental. Lol. But how awesome would it be to have all,of Maschine and all of Komplete in a stand alone box. !!!!! It'd be perfect. !!!! --------- a Sorry I'm off on this ridiculous tangent. I'll stop now.

Maschine+Ableton = Painfully Perfect
I'm right there with you on the gear. Ever since I got Push 2 I havent used my KK25 Keyboard. The guilt is killing me.

To add to this, Geist has a song mode, but from what I know you still have to manually arrange it, which you can do with Maschine as well.
