They got ableton running in a raspberry pi. The new move is another linux box like the push. The groovebox lover and linux nerd loves everything about about move and push. I would love to see ableton on desktop linux. Or an ableton specific distro built for low latency audio and minimal distractions from other commercial software.

Do you need Linux for that? Or are you referring to Windows and macOS?

I can confirm live semi works on linux mint, hard to install though.

The problem is you cannot authorize the program properly on linux. You click the button, it goes to the website, then the browser wants to open something it recieves from the website inside the program. The authorization seems to work, but actually doesnt (the packs section where most of the Suite stuff is is empty and asks for authorization even though the program doesnt).

For anyone else finding this... just dual boot win and linux it's the only real way to do it.

Yes linux is needed for that. Microsoft and apple would not licence their OS and allow ableton to strip it down to be super minimal like they did for the OS that the push 3 SA and move uses.

It is impossible to use windows or mac without microsoft and apple pushing their microsoft/apple accounts with cloud subscription services, app stores, copilot or siri assistants. You dont get any of that crap on a push 3 SA or a move. I want the same experience on my desktop.

Since I only need Windows as a 2nd boot option for Ableton, I would also be very happy if Ableton were also available for Linux. However, I wonder which VSTs would then still run? Whereby...., isn't the Apple OS also a kind of Linux?

Ableton Live 12 is the only application barring me from installing Linux on my laptop. I'd be very happy if Ableton released it.

Mac OS X is technically a form of UNIX, not Linux.

Anyone familiar with UNIX or Linux can open up the Terminal app on a Mac and feel right at home. You can open applications like Live from the command line although that’s perverse. Running a Mac from the Terminal as a purely UNIX machine is possible, though I’ve never met anyone who does that. It would be simpler to get a PC and set it up for Linux. Most Mac users will never launch Terminal.

With all the unfolding events in the USA, and in the spirit of Europe's digital sovereignty, this should be a matter taken seriously by Ableton. I mean, it's an European product that relies exclusively on American operating systems to work.

I was thinking the very same.

Since Ableton will not drop support for those operating systems, there is no immediate need to create a Linux version.
It would be great if they did so for users interested in moving to Linux, though.
