I dont know, i think there will be a load more effects similar to beat repeat and other little extras. i dont think the changes will be a sgnificant as they were from 4 - 5, but it will be worth the upgrade.

also, if they spend more time making 6 bug free, and it is, then we will all buy it, and that makes ableton money. so that makes sense dosent it.

LOL!

bless you for your optimism.

if you believe its going to work, even seven months after release, well then you've learned nothing about live5 and ableton. Or you are insane. Or a robot. or two robots.

i wasnt saying that they will make it bug free, all i am saying is that:

if they concentrate on making live 5 bug free and manage to please everybody, who will then want to buy live6.

If people are still having troubles with Live 5 when 6 comes out, and the hope is that it will be better - they will sell more updates, and have more cash to invest in Live 7.

8O (oh my god, he's talking about live 7 already) 8O

at best, only a rock solid live5 between now and then can motivate me to purchase a live6 (6+ months after its initial release)

im not buying live6, to fix live5. no way.

thats your opinion - which you are entitled to,

If everybody said that, then we will see a solid Live 5 before we see 6, but thats not the way it will happen.

Henry - do you still use 4.1.4 because of problems in live 5?
i know people are still on live 4.1.4 and not 5 because of problems, if they dont buy 6, when 7 comes out, they will be 3 versions behind and then a majority of those will update anyway.

In the business interests of ableton, bringing out payable updates is the only way to make quick and large amounts of cash.

Im not saying i agree with it, im just saying what i think will happen

you're flat out wrong there buddy, as a business they are obliged by law to deliver the product they advertise, unless I'm picking you up wrong, they are damn well obliged to provide bugfixes for live5 until it works right unilaterly. Or perhaps as a corporation, to them it may make fiscal sense to take a calculated risk and go ahead and release live6 without first making live5 satisfactory for those experiencing problems. The risk being, how many people will actually push for a refund against how much money can be made releasing another premature piece of shitware. They are probably looking at their excel sheets and the figures tell them what they can get away with.

sure, they can charge for updates if it provides extra functionality, but not if its only fixing defects in their product. consumer rights, and that. maybe it will provide fixes and extra functions ? well , whatever....live5 had better become satisfactory before I've had it for a year or I may go insane

Substitute "Windows" for "live5" and pretend you are telling this to Microsoft. Then start laughing.

i always end up arguing with you

im not wrong, i just put a point of view across,

i have a couple of problems when using live, but a good majority of users, dont.

i agree with yourself, but when Live 6 comes along with more effects and added features, i will probably be upgrading.

Thats rubbish, with that reasoning they will never make a good rock solid version in the hope that everyone will upgrade everytime. If you bought something from a shop that doesnt work quite how it is meant and you took it back you wouldnt expect the shopkeeper to say 'buy this newer version instead'.
Unless there's a big improvement in 5.2 then i certainly wont be buying 6, i will feel pretty cheated.

My point is simple, an opinion, and is my prediction. i dont agree with this prediction its only what i think will happen.

If there are some major underlying problems with 5 that requires them do do some major recoding then they will concentrate on these for live 6.

I do think that the Live 5 - Live 6 upgrade charge should be a very small one. say £35.

i dont think there should be any charge if this is the case, we shouldnt have to pay extra for features that should be working in 5.

well....i think i will continue using 5 till i am a subject matter expert. when i am finally being held back and unable to create good music, just about to die from having so little to work with, i might spend more. new doodads, yes i use that word, are groovy but really. i love using 5 now and learn new things every time i work with it so i'll just become a dinasour, and then......i will be really cool cuz everyone will be onto L15 and i will be "old school retro ("he does it all on L5 for that great vintage tone") music dude"

have fun out there

yes i agree, but to have a payable upgrade, they will need to add new features that Live 5 does not have. I would like to see some pitch shifters and modulators for example.

We wont get a version 6 for free, so its pointless arguing about it, a low upgrade fee is possible. especially if the new version isnt as substantial as the last.
