I thought you were alright with live 4Cryptic UK wrote:Lets see, i hope thats true, but if live 4 is anything to go by i dont think so.AdamJay wrote:

Ok thats performance and my computer works fine on cubase sx by the way.AdamJay wrote:FWIW, Cryptic
i used to have the same PB as you, and as soon as i upgrded the ram (i think i went up to 1.25GB) most of my problems disappeared. especially audio drop outs.
512MB of ram is great for MS Office and The Sims 2, but not for serious audio work.
My point in the first place.Cryptic UK wrote:Lets see, i hope thats true, but if live 4 is anything to go by i dont think so.AdamJay wrote:

you picking at straws.Adamjay wrote:FWIW, Cryptic

i see, and i want you to know that the point i was making was in the time Live 4.1 went to Live 5, there were 4 bug fix updates and more bugs were fixed and improvements made than you could count on 10 hands.Cryptic UK wrote: live 4 still has bugs in it that is my point.
errr no.AdamJay wrote:
So, i think its only fair that you change the title of this thread to:
fuck off DAWs and the entire software industry that gives us the new features we ask for and pay for, but always contains bugs in some way or another
that'd be fair.
yeah, i learned this the hard way. the extremely hard way. bought a g5 quad core with 8 gigs of ram, thinking it was my laptop's fault that live slowed down. apparently it was live's fault that live slowed down. so now i have to use protools if i want to do anything processor intensive. what a waste. granted, i am doing a LOT (vst plugins, midi playback to various external keyboards, rewiring reason and melodyne, etc), but still. the main reason i bought this computer was so that this wouldn't happen.Nod wrote:I hasten to add this isn't just on one system - as I've seen it on quite a few machines where it's actually been my recommendation to the user to buy Live for it's amazing creative possibilities.
In June when 6 comes out you're guaranteed to get at least double performance though... hopefully more, depends on how future proof Ableton are making their multiple processor performance.snowtires wrote:\
