There are dual core intel machines in canada for $1000! So your paying $1000 us (about $1200 canadian) for osx, and an isight.
where are you finding that price man, i priced up an nearly identically spec'ed out dell and the thing is about $60 cheaper then the macbook, it also weights 3 pounds more, has no bluetooth, no backlite keyboard, no expresscard, no built in firewire, no isight, and no os x. so where is the bargan with the PC's? speed, maybe i'll give you speed, but you'll have to spend waaay more to get that fast PC then you would on a new mac.
oh man oh man, if your point of comparison is a Dell computer, then yes - getting a good and fast one could be mighty expensive. It sounds like the dell you're comparing with is the crummiest computer money could buy right now, to be honest! I didn't even know you could get a computer these days without firewire!
I don't mind price/feature comparisons, but don't do a direct apple->dell comparison, please! One of the main advantages of pcs is that there *are* actually several manufacturers on the market. :-|
mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.

That's why you buy an apple these days.

In the 80s, the reason apple was popular was because they offered a computer that was much more user friendly than anything else available.

Though they really aren't that expensive these days, especially if you look at the prices of ibooks, macminis, imacs, etc

they are all pretty well priced. The macbook pro is priced high because it has that extra "pro." So it's the fastest protable computer you can buy from them right now, bah! I was going ga ga over the macbook pro, but really, I could stick with my powerbook a bit longer because I seriously can't keep two computers being a student, two laptops at that.

I "might" sell my powerbook this summer...then again, I probably will. I want to make a decent about of cash back and I 'm afraid if I wait that powerbooks will be worth nothing by Jan. of 2007. I look on ebay and I noticed that the oldschool titanium powerbooks are worth $800 max.

time to sell those powerbooks!

though I have to wait for the semester to be over to finish all these papers.

*being in university without a computer, I would have flunken out by now*
