oh man oh man, if your point of comparison is a Dell computer, then yes - getting a good and fast one could be mighty expensive. It sounds like the dell you're comparing with is the crummiest computer money could buy right now, to be honest! I didn't even know you could get a computer these days without firewire!bencodec wrote:where are you finding that price man, i priced up an nearly identically spec'ed out dell and the thing is about $60 cheaper then the macbook, it also weights 3 pounds more, has no bluetooth, no backlite keyboard, no expresscard, no built in firewire, no isight, and no os x. so where is the bargan with the PC's? speed, maybe i'll give you speed, but you'll have to spend waaay more to get that fast PC then you would on a new mac.detroitechno wrote:I like the new macintels, nice layout even though it's design is getting a bit dated... but at $2000 for the base model I could never justify the purchase at that price. There are dual core intel machines in canada for $1000! So your paying $1000 us (about $1200 canadian) for osx, and an isight.
I don't mind price/feature comparisons, but don't do a direct apple->dell comparison, please! One of the main advantages of pcs is that there *are* actually several manufacturers on the market.
