Michael McArthur (aka gorf) is a local multidisciplinary artist who has
been actively producing various types of electronica since 2003. Gorf's
music tends to vary from track to track, though there is always the
underlying presence of some kind of IDM. His music is very progressive in
the sense that it seems to build out of itself, a construction of sound if
you will. He is inspired by everything around him - the many spontaneous
interactions of all forms that come with life.
Gorf has given away numerous self-released CDs which all available to
download on his website. He has also appeared on Here's My Card Records. A label based out of Toronto that features many local musicians that span
over a variety of styles. Recently, he and his collaborative partner
pocketroot released a four track EP under the name Denseware , also
available for free on the internet.
knowing looks - grain records/musique risquee

The Knowing Looks aesthetic is to meld the structures of microhouse with
songs and records that have affected me in both good and bad ways. Far
removed from the quick gimmick and novelty of 'ironic' mash ups, it's
about using the influences of a lifetime obsession with music and crate digging to create songs that bears little resemblance to the original samples they come from, but still tries to tip a hat to the originators in some way.
Knowing Looks runs a record label called grain and have a release coming
out on akufen's musique risquee this year, so If you're putting labels
beside the artist name's you can tack those two onto mine.
Hope to see some of you guys out on Friday...
Thanks...
