If you can hear it......theres a difference.
I already did this......take two or three apps, load the same plugs/audio/etc and bounce. If all you get is a diffence in volume......then there you are. If you "hear" a difference in how things sit together......crispness.....well then.....again......there you have it
It's pretty subjective......(well there is one host that is doing something wrong, which I won't name, because the audio quality is shit!)

Logarithmic faders vs linear? Just a guess... could be compounded by graphical differences, eg cubases faders are physically longer (from memory of the handful of times I've used it

it's been conclusively proven time and time again - bare bones nuts and bolts there is no difference in just the actual audio summing, if it sounds different it is because something is happening along the way to influence it - either panning laws or the 2.48db - or warping or whatever else is going on
first thing to do is those who are saying there is a difference is take the 2 apps with one very clean unprocessed audio file, make sure there is NOTHING at all anywhere influencing the sound and the pan laws in Logic are set to -3db centre and the gain is up 2.48db and see if there is a difference, then render the audio files and post them here and everyone can discuss it then

i love how some people act like panning laws are somehow going to change the quality of your sound stage.
The 3db drop in the center is just so that the gain is equal as you change the position. That's all it is.

if you dont sound 'pro' in live, you can find the source of the problem by looking in the mirror.

too bad most people who say that live sounds best haven't tried any other stuff.
Maybee it's because most other appz are too hard to learn.
I find live a great tool. But productions i make in cubase sound so much better.
I don't give a fuck if live is theortical the same in quality.
There is definately a difference in the way Live handles gain and stereo.
The more tracks you add, the thinner it gets.
I'm producing about 12 years and i haven't get a satificing production out of live.
Any ideas? i never use warping.

Possibly this has something to do with Live not using panning laws? If there is no 3db dip in the center, then center-panned sounds are going to be 3db hotter than expected, no?

Can you read this out loud for the class please...
Live's bomb, sounds fine - I think some cats are getting away with putting out some quality records via Live - I'm sure they've tried all the rest

I can almost guarantee you that the tracks released are being treated at the mastering house with something other than live.. What about your record that was recently released? Do you think it was actually mastered in live?

Please, show me, in fact, where it has been proven? References? Links? It has not been proven anywhere, and in fact, that article just posted "proves" the opposite.

Mastered in a Mastering house, yes
I can't dispute the advantages of having a professional master or even mix something on what they feel comfortable or learned on - i.e. Pro-Tools, Cubase or Logic
but for the sake of this argument Live's cool.
I guess I would have to back up on my words because I do try to mix my own music but the label I'm dealing with now is constantly sending me stuff back askign me to make this louder, longer and stronger - great learning experience but I'm no mix master or mastering master - he's doing everything through Wavelab straight to Vinyl so...
Since I'm not a master at mixing or mastering I have no idea
I do know it sounds fine when I get my pan on and eq on and what not so...
Sounds fine to me but I'm not getting paid big bucks to mix Madonna or Tool so I can't really speak about true professionalism

Hello, all. I thought that I would chime in on this topic. Not that my opinion matters,
rather just another point of view:
I write mostly rock & metal. I have found that Live has a very
organic feel for me and the genre in which I am involved. Below I have posted (what I hope) is a link for a short drum clip that I did in Live, using nothing other than a small bit of compression. I have found that it could / would suit my tastes and the tastes of most of my clients:

This is just a clip of an ol' tune that I have been ,essin' around with.
BTW - This is just a
goofin' off site that I post ideas - where somebody in another country might want to collaborate with me, etc.
