apparently people have been asking for this feature since the beginning, i wouldn't hold your breath. apparently the abes think making more shitty in-house plugins is more important than adding the ability to have more than one time signature in a song

sounds totally hopeless and pessimistic to me and this is sad. anybody in this forum is in contact to someone at ableton to explain our concerns??? i mean this is really some serious issue, isn't it!!! has there never been any reaction from ableton's side?

I am hoping for this for quite some time. But alas... it doesn't seem to be a priority.
This is used in many different situations: classical music, prog-rock, simple pop music.
Making projects in 1/4 is not a solution...
I would suggest keeping the time signature a global setting, but allow the user to override it for each Scene (just like you can override Quantization on the Clip level).

Yes, well it can even be useful for more avant-garde music to set different signatures for different tracks/clip. But even basic time signature changes would be very nice to have.

It's not just avant-garde music or film scores - even simple country music often has bars of 2/4 mixed in with the 4/4. This is a serious failing of Live.

DEFINITELY!
I thought it could work by automating the beat unit and number of beats individually with envelopes in the master track.
Seriously, this MUST happen. It would be seriously sucky if it wasn't in the next version, AT LEAST.

balls in a bucket! i hardly ever use the arranger, but i thought i'd give it a go for a song that starts with a bar of 2/4 and then goes into 4/4. it can't be done so i'm going to have to put the whole thing in 2/4 which will be fine in this case as there aren't any midi loops or anything, but in future it's going to be so annoying.
if someone from ableton could perhaps explain why they haven't done this then at least we could say "fair enough" and skulk off, but at the moment it seems like they don't think it's important and i really can't believe that that's the case.

Giving it a thought:
How do we want the warping to would work if samples are active over different zones of time signatures? Like beat warping.
Or am I totally out of focus here?

I need this feature more than any new plug ins. It is at the top of my list. I love Ableton, but I've actually contemplated migrating to another DAW which has this ability. Please, Ableton, put this at the top of your list.

I think probably you wouldn't use audio clips that change time sigs over the global changes. With this excetion: If you've got a 7/4 clip you could lay that over 3/4 + 4/4 or other mathmatical possibilities. Making a 6/8 clip fit into a 4/4 space doesn't work well in any case.
