thats a fair point.
i dont have a problem with the tech side of things i mean without it i wouldnt be able to make music - i cant play a note.
but also in the same vein in the aphex interview he desperately make the point he wants a synth manufacturer [roland] to allow him to design a synth for them. where to you draw the line between artistic merit or marketing hype. no doubt bt has done somethings that make think 'cheezy', but if someone offered me a million to wear a couple of t-shirts and use some controllers. where do i sign up [hell id advertise for halliburton or be a poster boy for gay condoms] for that and i defy anybody on this forum to to say they wouldnt.
in this case i think we have two extremes [or opposites] of music makers
anyway i dont want the thread to go into a aphex vs bt thread is was quite interesting talking about the music and practice of what he has achieved.

ya, but we're not filthy rich as it is....its GREED thats really offensive, not strictly just the endorsement thing. a nobody can advertise, cos thats the best they can do...but when a somebody advertises thats just money-whoring, imo.

oh, and i disagree. this doesnt compare to AFX or squarepusher at all. sure its pwetty. and glitchy. but its still not as complex as the aforementioned. besides. that stuff came out what.. 10 years ago? if anything this reminds me of kelp. but even that sounds more inspired.
the only thing i can find "better" in this is a more glossy and slick mix. but its so glossy it sounds dead.
i highly encourage those who think this is groundbreaking to get out more.

This album is beautiful stuff. Who cares if it does or does not compare to Aphex twin or Squarepusher. Its called music, which in my book is called "art". WHy can't some of you just enjoy the music for what its worth, and stop comparing the artist. It makes the experience much less enjoyable. The way you listen, is a reflection of how you percieve life itself. If you compare and judge everything, your gonna end up old and jaded really soon, if you are not already there. All things said, pick up this album if you enjoy some beautiful art, bottom line.

I'm glad to see that I could spawn a thread that has over 1000 views, lots of replies and
isn't political.
That being said, I think what I like most about this album is that it just feels closer to a personal expression. The last album felt like it was intended for something - pop recogntion, or bigger sales, or whatnot. Whereas this one is put together in the name of the tracks. It defies convention (in the same way that Underworld does, IMO. Or even Orbital) and lets the music unfold according to its own logic. There are few rough spots in there IMO (where a transition feels a bit crammed), but even then, its all good because it contrasts the elegant unfolding of the music.
And it does make you chill out/feel good when you listen to it.
Props to BT. Love it.
