Processor names are gay.

I just was curious to why some people choose macs over pc's. was it because looks, os or that they use intel chips, able to use mac or xp on one system. And why was mac making these commecials kind of making them desperate fo sales in a way. Like a rapper going to jail to get more cd sales you wouldn't catch me doing something like that. Who wants to buy my cd will by buy who doesn't will not unless I do something stupid to make them buy. I know a pc has its problems but macs have problems too and nobody seems to say anything about them just say things about pc's.

Nobody needs to really market PCs against Macs. They mostly market against other brands of PCs.

PCs account for like 98% of all computer sales worldwide.

So, if you were a PC company trying to gain market share.... would you focus on the 2% market of Apple.... or on the other 98%?

I guess they have picked up more attention recently.. but i've been using macs since 1986.. They just make sense.. and I've never had a problem.. touchwood.

Most people dont want to pick each part of there computer one bit at a time. Most people think a powerbook looks better than a dell. And most importantly most people will NEVER even come close to to using all the cpu that is in any chip that came out this year. So whats wrong with people getting a computer that makes them feel like they own something important and nice? Now me I am more of a build it yourself person. There are many reasons for this but if your not a gamer or a DAW builder then there is little point to putting yourself through the potential agrovation of building your own computer. If you buy the best parts it is not any cheaper and it takes up a massive amount of time.

i remain loyal only to ableton. the machine it runs on is insignificant because it's just a box that will eventually fail me.

what that guy said about the design aspect is very true.
plus macs have the 6 pin firewire which is awesome

yeah I don't know why pc's don't have that many if any firewire ports

Communist computers? For certain, if we had only one choice it would be crap.

Not to mention:

- Inter Application MIDI

- Built-in audio networking plugins

- The fact that you can plug and play anything while live is running. Like midi controllers or software.

- And soon we'll have the ability to combine all that stuff with ichat.
So i can work with somebody on a track in Live, we can stream the audio to each other and take control of each others desktop (feature of the next osx)
Not without latency. But everytime you made a change that you both like. You just send over the .als file...

If Microsoft succeeds in taking a huge chunk of the iPod market, Apple could be in deep shit, however.

iPods basically kept Apple alive for years while they waited and waited for the next gen processors from IBM. When they didn't come, they switched to Intel. But iPods have been the cash cow.

This should be interesting.


I own 2 iPods currently. But I would ditch them both in a second if I could get something with gapless audio playback.
