It's a species of blind stupidity to think that the citizenry at large is being denied the right of free speech. That sort of thing DOES happen in wholesale quantities under other sorts of regimes, however.

The measures you cite--though I don't know how thoroughly you understand their limits--are meant to help us fight an enemy that's out to destroy us. Are those measures the optimal solution? Maybe, maybe not. They still beat living under Sharia in my book.

If someone in the government decides you are a threat you can be secretly flown around the world and kept and tortured in a secret prison. You would have not possible way of communicating with anyone, or appealing against what is happening. They wouldn't even need to explain to you what you have done wrong. This is possible NOW.

Funny, as you just replied to my post saying exactly the opposite and that it was the premise and not the exact circumstances you were disagreeing with. You can't hold two different points of view. At least not in the same thread...

OK adonis I can agree to some degree, but simple fact is the FBI was stripped of a large amount of ability to police people here in the states because they killed the leader of the Black Panther movement in his bed..... think about that, dude was sleeping... They have all that power back now.

Our rights have been slowly taken from us ever since Wacko texas with those David Koresh weirdos, at this point it's all crap. We can't even protest without literally being caged in....
the government pretty much does what it wants to. Look at local politics here, remeber how we voted against the Seahawks stadium? They simply overturned popular vote, and we taxpayers did nothing.

I'm not going to live my life like a paranoid, but it's no joke that we are heading backwards in history.

The major events of the past 5 years are all leading up to something no one wants, but is something which cannot be averted. The ends will have justified the means once the reality becomes apparent, including the sacrifice of so many lives, because the life of every single person on the planet will be at stake.
