Cool, now all we need is the developer of the waveforms to give a shit about this so called group buy.

I sent an inquiry thru the website to have a look at this thread and let us know if they would do a group buy.

Group buy huh? I'd consider it. How many are interested? 50? 100? 500? More?

Particularly the "advanced user" paragraph and the last paragraph. Even though this statement was for Architecture Volume One for MetaSynth, the same applies here. In other words, I am sure there are lots of smart people out there. Many of them COULD potentially develop such a thing, (though there are large challenges to doing is a well technically as I have). But the time it took me to do these, was time I was not producing music (either for my own artist releases, or for other artists), or doing any of my other business tasks. I use these everyday in several applications. (And I am developing some things which use them further as well.) I can tell you, at least for me, that the mindset required to make these is quite different from the normal music production mindset. I personally enjoy being able to work with the library now, without having to think about the process of creating these while I am working at higher levels of sound-design and music production. I would rather now focus on other areas of technical innovation and on the creative message of the project. I enjoy being able to use the library now and think about higher level detail.

But please, no way is right. Everyone should do as he/she wants. If someone can make another library of 1,800 waveforms at this quality level, for $30, I will certainly buy it!

A few more notes (answering questions posted on other forums):

1.) This is a replacement for the previous version (and it also now synchs the collection for three formats: Absynth, MetaSynth, and .Wav). The first version had about 1,000. This version has those original 1,000 plus 800 new waveforms.

2.) Price is now $24.95 (for NI and MS); previously it was $14.95, but the price per waveform has been lowered. Upgrades from the previous version are $9.95.

3.) All versions are download-only. And the process is very easy both for new users and upgrades from V1. (file size is 9.5MB for NI, 12.5 for Universal/wav, and 20.9 for MS.

4.) These are INVALUABLE for Absynth 4.0. I agree that they were not as easy to use in v2 and v3 b/c of the limits imposed by v2 and v3, but since I am now a part of the NI sound design and beta team with some of the other brilliant minds who have posted in this thread, we were sure to address this in V4 and make them a pleasure to work with. I also made categories specifically to address new features in Absynth 4.0 (like the asymmetrical, polynomials, and Hybrid Modulation waves, which are great to build morph waves with for example.)

5.) I have made the price VERY, VERY low compared to what I could likely charge for one reason: I want every Absynth user to try these instead of just the real hard-core sound-designers like some of us on this list/thread. To the hardcore sound-designers these are worth several hundred dollars perhaps, but I want to encourage EVERYONE to be able to start exploring things beyond simple preset selection in Absynth. So I have made these accessible with a price that SHOULD make it impossible to resist for EVERYONE... I also kept the price this low in hope that everyone would be honorable and pay for this work themselves and not share it illegally.

6.) Universal version (wav) are very useful for other Wavetable synths. Cakewalk's Rapture is a very good example, and these work VERY, VERY well in such software... Reaktor also has some great uses. And of course pretty much any sampler out there...

29.95 is maybe is bit ridiculous to ask a group buy for..

But I found the demo package rather small to have proper judgement whether I want this or not..
39 out of 1800 is not that much..
Could you expand the demo a bit?

I'll add one more that I mentioned earlier - these can be imported in Sytrus easily and you can have your way with them in either subtractive, additive, or FM within Sytrus, so they are very good to have.

Another note, from the demo, it seems these are 24-bit wav files, which is great - most of the stuff I've collected on the web are 16-bits.

Anyways, if there is a group buy, I'm in for sure. What would the details be, Andrew? How many in before you drop the price, and to what levels?

i bought the absynth version and they sound great. it really expands the possibilities. i tried the demo of the wav version and was throwing them in kontakt to get an idea of what they were like. i didn't debate to long considering what i was getting for the price. i just had read good things on the NI forum about that absynth version so thats what i went for. i plan on getting the wav version when i have an extra $30.

1800 waveforms gives you tons of possibilities in a sampler - and for as cheap as they are you can't really beat it. they sound great.

I'm very happy with my purchase of these waveforms. I've been playing around with them a lot, and I really appreciate the effort put into the organization and technical perfection of this work. Definitely worth $30 for me!

I down own Zebra, so I have no idea...but I thought it was able to import wavetables. Anyways, here's the online manual that should be relevant to the topic:

I already looked into the manual but found nothing about importing wavs or some kind of waveform settings to save (osc. setting save is possible yes) ..

Sorry I couldn't be of more help...I thought for sure Zebra would allow imports. Or maybe I was thinking of that Kjaerhus synth.

I know for sure that these waves are great in Sytrus. Pop them in the Oscillator analysis, and let the 256 partials recreate the waveform as an oscillator inside Sytrus. Then off you go with all the Sytrus synthesis features...

What's even better is that when I import them in Sytrus, they're in tune. Often in Sampler, the root key is completely different, so getting a cool sound is easy but making it "musical" seems harder. But inside Sytrus, this pack would give me an assload of sound sculpting options...

Ya, Zebra doesn't import them yet (Urs wants to add this).

Toxic III can import these.

Sytrus can create these kinds of cycles with perfect loop points also, just go to an Operator, click on OSC, edit the waveform using the partials and phase below, and Export Single Cycle Waveform from the little arrow menu on the bottom left.

Of course, it's not like you'll get cool things like 5th saw waves, etc... automatically.
