GEEZE. You guys sound like you're PMSing. I'm not a fan of Celine Dion, but I CAN admit she is talented. I know they are people who like her (like my gf).
And P-Diddy... so what!? I happen to like the way his flows sound...kinda lazy style....and I'm NOT a hiphop fan at all.
Tiesto and Puff Daddy are "successful" for a reason.
And haven't you guys every dj'ed before? One thing you learn is you HAVE to please your crowd. And often this means playing music you don't happen to like. I'm sure this applies to producing music as well. For these guys it IS a job you know.

My left testicle is more impressive than puff daddys entire existance! The only reason he is ballin is because that same left testicle is in his mouth. I wish KRS one would kick his ass and take all his money and put it to good use. Also none of this changes the fact that i want to kick his ass. Its all in good fun, but i sincerly want to kick his ass..djadonis206 wrote:sure lets put money asideleisuremuffin wrote:hey man, i don't water down my cre-hate-ivity for anybody.
i'm just calling you out for using the oldest and least valid argument in the book.
we're talking about art, not sales ranking at a real estate agency.
or are we?
see, this is what's scary to me, we are witnessing the death of music for the sake of music. you ain't shit without a video or some stupid ass gimmik these days. it's a shame, and i'm all for hating on that if that's what you want to call it. And i'll call bullshit on anybody who defends it based on "worthington's law" (mr show anybody?)

he's been nominated for 9 grammys and won 3 -
he made the guiness book of world records (2000 edition for most #1 rap singles or something like that)
he runs the most successful if not premier record label in hip hop (next to def jam)
he also runs one of the most successful hip hop urban clothing lines on the planet
lets say he hadn't made a dime but managed to accomplish all that in the 37 years he's been on this planet
how close have any of us come to any of these accomplishments?
so money aside...the guys ballin' harder than anyone I know - in real life or the Internet
but you are free to hate so hate on....please
Two technics 1210 turntables, alot of guitars, 2gig Sony vgz fz290, 2gig frankenstein pc, mbox, ableton, flstudio, recycle, the infinity gauntlet, and alot of spare time..

harumph. i re-iterate ... the felix vs. p-diddy track "i'll jack you" is teh dowp. no fooling. dj hell seemed to like it too.
what that means? dunno. when i was in college, i hung out w/ some peops that really liked puff daddy ... p-diddy was not exactly my musical taste, but they were 1000 times more fun to hang w/ than people that did have my music taste. they also introduced me to missy elliot, which blew my mind.
again, i can't comment on the meaning ... and when I look back at it all, I also can't hate. yes, as a track, the police remix sucked major. but it penetrated, culturally, somehow got merged w/ my experience and identity.

i don't try to insulate myself in my own little world of music.
i think i have extremely eclectic tastes. And i don't mean that i like progressive trance AND deep house. I mean i listen to everything and anything. From old folk and country, to classical, to jazz, to hip hop and all electronic music. Shit, even some rock. It's not about being close minded to a specific genre, it's about having an opinion about what good music is to *me*.
And frankly, i'm not feeling diddy. Here's why ---> first of all, as a rapper, he's horrible. No flow, nothing to say. I defy you to find one person who is seriously into hip hop to deny that. As a beat maker, i'll give him that some of his beats are pretty good, however, i don't know how much of it he really did himself, and there's also a bunch of horrible shit he's put his stamp on. As a person who sells product, he's great, but that's not something i care about, sorry.
tiesto? y'know what, i can't even speak to that because i'm really not that familliar with his stuff. I've heard just a handfull of tracks from him, and they just sounded like generic dance music to me. whatever.
but y'know what, if you want to think i'm "hating" and that it's somehow noble to defend these types of people, go right ahead. I hope you earn a medal or something.

Therefore, leisuremuffin speaks with twice the authority, conviction and rationality as anybody else on this matter. Having given him my proxy on this matter, I hereby fuck off from this thread with an affirmatory statement: "both Tiesto and Puff Daddy suck so much they deserve each other".
