it works.
I made a patch which detects some control change and which answer to them by send another control change.
(I'm sure a lot of max/msp expert will answer ... "ahah,it already existed" ... but nevermind,I didn't see it and my little path saves my life

)

A for any given track the controller could recognize what are the plug ins attached to it and with click of button on the controller switch to that plug in and then all button are now mapped to all controls in the plug ins....it is like going through layers with ability to come right back at the top ( general mixer) right now it is only at the mackie general stage, which unfortunately keeps everything very limited.
.....
I would love more support. without clicking, even if Ableton needs to make their own super controller.....

I'm going to commit a cardinal sin and bump this because it is such a great idea and there are so many good comments and suggestions that I couldn't warrant creating a whole new thread for.
Cant believe this has not been active since 2009!
Unless, of course, I'm just stupid and there already is a way to do this and I just haven't found it.
