yes a big thing - more than one finger at a timeshaneblyth wrote: I remeber going to the paint shop 5 years ago and using touch screens to paint a virtual house image as i wanted.. Maybe I am missing something ?

I'd love to try the laser things - it sounds awesome
But I guess I'm thinking a multi-touch tablet or iMac type thing will be the more immediate home option
I dont know how for away that is if the multi-touch at the moment needs projection
but the idea of using all ten fingers and gestures is pretty appealing to me
out of curiosity kooki and trip_out, how many different actions can the laser system register at once?
Can it look at both hands and get all 10 fingers?
I can just see alot of possibilities with being able to use all of both hands in the way these systems look like they will offer
I'm actually starting to get physical problems from using mouse and keyboard for years - I think they are old technology and need to be updated with something healthier
cool where are you now?trip_out wrote:Sounds like fun. Was just interested as I might be moving to Oz at some point.forge wrote:Creative industries in Brisbane, Australia
the sub major that I think will lead on to it is computational arts
I know there is some interesting stuf already going on in that department
Queensland is fastest growing and nice place to live
Birmingham, UK. It would probably be Sydney that I'd be going to, or maybe Perth. I'm heading 'down under' for a holiday in October I think, just to get a feel for the place. But until then it is just a thought.forge wrote:cool where are you now?trip_out wrote:Sounds like fun. they DONT have this touch system patented. this has been on the go since the sixties in some form or another. apple wasnt even a seed thennoisetonepause wrote:Interesting to see whether or not Apple decide to leverage the patents it has on technology like this...
why do people on this forum constantly make stuff up.
HA HA HA
http://guides.macrumors.com/Gallery_of_ ... ace_Patent. USPO application #20060026535. Also, I recall seeing another one for a fader/slider layout on a laptop, and another one for a multitouch iPod.mercyplease wrote:they DONT have this touch system patented. this has been on the go since the sixties in some form or another. apple wasnt even a seed thennoisetonepause wrote:Interesting to see whether or not Apple decide to leverage the patents it has on technology like this...

Whether the patent is well-deserved, originally invented by apple, etc., is not important. The fact is, they (and a bunch of other companies) are rushing to be the "me first" in this field.
