hockey is an amazing sport. do you know what the blue line is and how it affects play?

I love soccer, I love watching it and there's deep strategy, it's a constant chess match but you wouldn't know that if you never played it. Comparing and bashing sports is best left to people with little understanding of what they're talking about.
i never played soccer in my life i have no iea what this is :D
you don't have to play it to be one. :P

I can see the name 'soccer' as always being a pivotal point for giving the US a lack of cred when it comes to 'the beautiful game', even after we win the world cup, which WILL happen, someday.

I'm not surprised in this sausage fest of a forum that nobody's mentioned that
THE UNITED STATES WOMEN'S WORLD CUP TEAM WON THE WOLD CUP IN 1991 and 1999, MORE THAN ANY OTHER TEAM

nope, no soccer in the US, doesn't exist.

I was at the semifinal in '99 when they beat Brazil, that was a fun game, the Brazillian fans were great.

Soccer is alive and well in North America. For anyone about my age (32) or younger, soccer was probably the most-played sport in our youth. Soccer will just keep growing, and when my generation is in charge of the networks, I think soccer will have just about as much tv credibility as the other major sports. Obviously, advertising is the number one challenge for commercial success. I think as bigger advertising dollars go into jersey sponsorships and other all-game adverts, the tv power will increase.

As a technology guy, I imagine that there might be advances in computer graphics so that tv advertisers will be able to have virtual logos on the field itself. If they were done tastefully, I wouldn't mind seeing those ads while I watch.

Personally, I pay for my soccer viewing by getting ESPN, Fox Soccer Channel and Gol TV on DirecTV, and I pay $13/month more for Setanta Sports. I can get all English Premier League games and lots of games from Europe, and some from Central and South America.

I still play indoor and outdoor soccer year round, and I think more people my age still play soccer than any other competitive sport. I'm just waiting for my generation to grow old and take over. :)
