I shot these out two days ago because of this thread. I hadn't heard the A7 yet. The A7 sounded cool, without a doubt. We put it against the Dynaudio BM6a as well. The ribbon tweeter on the ADAMS really give you a sizzlingly clear top end. But the Dyn's seemed to have more "together sounding" upper mids. The ribbon tweeters are amazing, but they do seem to slice the consistency of the sound as a whole.

I'm not dissing here. I think the ADAMS are special and I'm sure they're great to own.

I put on the Genelec 8030a after those and I was sold again. From the deep lows all the way up to the top, they just sound complete and unified. I'm putting my order in for a white pair today!

Another consideration for the original question is whether you have access to other speakers to make cross-checking of your masters. If you already have some good hifi speakers to use for a second listen, it might be worth getting a pair of monitors that are especially good in other aspects e.g. deeper-ranging bass or clearer tweeters. That's one reason why I chose Genelecs over the Dynaudios: I use Dynaudio hifi speakers at home and the Dynaudio monitors have very similar characteristics, so I opted for the Genelecs purely for monitoring for a more analytical sound. Now I have two different styles of speakers to use for testing.

Might be a consideration for you.

In any case, let us know what you get! :)

While we're on the on subject, anyone had any experience with these JBLs. I like the idea of the automatic room compensation? Think it actually works?

Anybody tried out the iKey M series monitors? They are super cheap on pricing so I am just curious what they may sound like.
Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.
