Fuck that.

The E and coke certainly improves them but the LSD just gives them snake-hair and fiery auras.

the E certainly don't improve yourself though. Seeing all those wasted faces with eyes rolling. eh

No shit?

You mean they're compressed at the factory? I bet that saves a lot of setup time.
:D

mixer bus -> COMPRESSOR -> eq-> Analyzer (more compression) ->Amps

...is what I meant...

That's a common misconception. If you want a mix to sound tight, an advanced knowledge of EQ is the key.

the chopping is so good, the kicks don't even sound like kicks. more like stabs of something distorted but they're perfect.

i mean where does someone even start, if wanting to get a sound like this.
I know I know, i should make my own kind of music, but this is the music i love to make.
it's a pretty vague question so maybe someone could help with some advice on the chopping (is it just sliced like in arrange view, and more importantly how does it sound so staccato). and the drums? what are they? they certainly don't sound like drums. is this technique or just really awesome samples.

thanks
wow everything must be ultra-shit then cause this sounds like crap

I've got a secret, shh, don't tell.

SebastiAn's technique came from Oizo...

Basically, it's simply an old school production trick: he is consistantly resampling and bouncing down to fewer tracks; as if working on a 4 track. That's how everything stays so nice and tight, not all this talk about Ableton plug in BS and black magic. Try running something like that and you're going to end up with a mess.

This track sounds retardedly simple:
track 1: ufo sample throughout the song
track 2: bass and drums (notice how these "chop" together?)
track 3: any other elements

Straight from the horse's mouth, too.

Cheers.
sebastian was doing his stuff before meeting oizo though.
Can't argue with you there.
But if I remember correctly, didn't he produce hip hop earlier in his career? Similar tricks during that time. I forget what it was exactly that he said came from Oizo... Back to the chicken or the egg. Both execute their styles very well.

Yeh SebastiAn used to produce hip hop. I think what he learned from Oizo was the four track method of re-sampling his own work.
is this right peeddrroo??

It's totally over compressed, but that makes it loud. People at clubs like it loud, so play it at clubs.

Open the file in a wave editor to see how much it's compressed. It sounds funky; I added it to my set :).

I never said that drugs improve anything. I said they may blend things together in that club atmosphere.

What popslut, you don't like a girl turning into satins evil bride from hell with her head spinning around, with snake-hair?
What's not to like about that?
Talking about club music, I heard this remix-http://youtube.com/watch?v=0f916b2m9BE

I liked this. Go Utah Saints! I love Kate Bush.
Doing Kate on LSD. Hmmmmm. That would be a trip.
I wonder what she would turn into?

could be, i don't know really.
it's a good trick anyway and might help getting results close to this kind of sound.
i heard oizo got it from george martin.

really. it sounds likce crap.
im not sure whats so special about his cuts either.

then again, it sounds like most he does, and most of the ed banger crap.
i walked passed sebastian at the dour festival, then he played this mix along with his rage against the machines mix. everything had the exact same sound. fun to dance too perhaps but it really doesnt sound good whatsoever.

Listen, maybe the OP was a little too enthusiastic with the thread title, but he/she had a legit question. Personally, I wouldn't even say it's Sebastian's best work.

But come on, nearly 4 pages of coming up with all different ways to define crap and bash one of an artist's tracks?

Have we forgotten the meaning of the word "opinion"?

Its all about tastes people, just because you dont like it doesnt mean its crap does it? surely as a musician youd know how much work goes into a track...and give up the organic bullshit, its music, music is music - its the people who decide what they like
amen to that
and amen once again

i wonder how many of these people who so fervently refer to this music as "total crap, utter shite", or any other not-so-clever insults actually make good enough music to be passing such judgment

then again what does "good music" mean? this is one of those "eye of the beholder" type of things that doesnt really warrant the need for a 4 page thread.

I'm getting a bit bored of the Ed Banger sound, but man, gotta appreciate SebastiAns skillz, and Oizo too, more so. I find Oizos stuff just as badass but a little less deafening.
