Let me say first this is just my opinion. I agree with sleep tyght in that parents need to watch what their kids are doing in terms of tv/music and such in order to give them a proper upbringing. But I also think ultimately most people are a product of their environment more so than anything else. A child's parents or guardians in most cases are who the child looks up to the most. Children learn more about how to act from mimicking these people who are so important to them than anywhere else. If a child grows up in a bad situation that situations effects tends to stick with them for a very long time regardless of what they watch or listen to. I think we're getting into the Grand Theft Auto type of argument, some people say it causes kids to be more violent, others say it doesn't. I think it depends on how you were brought up. But either way I don't think they are the cause of anything. If you were brought up in a violent household gangster rap or GTA may tend to enforce those ideas as being OK, but they are not the cause of those ideas, their environment is. People who have had a proper upbringing view GTA and music as exactly what they are and nothing more, they don't make us do anything because it purely entertainment. I had an ex that worked with young sex abusers under the age of 12, every single one of those children's parents had committed similar acts in the household where that child was growing up, more than often while the child was in the room. Situations like these will have a much more profound effect on the child than anything else.

I'm not saying there aren't any exceptions but this is just my take on things.

P.S. I know I am only talking about children and not what the current "big picture" in inner cities is but kids are where the cycle begins.

The truth is it is all bullshit and if people continue to believe that the TV and Radio Stations are not polluting are collective and wreaking havoc on populations of people then we are all doomed. Black, White, Brown, Green or Grey.


So again, where is the White Entertainment Television? Where is The Race radio station? I see these things and wonder why we allow our society to regress back into segragation through marketing and happily accept it.
