Get 2.

Flip 'em side ways. (This would be cool for DJ's...)

actually not a bad idea at all !

just don´t know if they sorted out multi units operation,
i´m mostly curious about the 2 speed dials coexistence implementation as all other controls can just be assigned different ccs or midi channels

Nononono the USB port is exactly where it should be!

It's not so nice for in the studio (angled USB cable will make it nicer) but for DJ/laptop sets now you can have the Nocturn sitting right in front of your laptop! It's not a mistake they really thought about this thing.

Just got it today and it is unbelievably GOOD. This is the closest thing to working with analogue synths. I have a BCR and it is going!

And after I've programmed all my mappings I might never look at another fugly fake 3d VST window again!

5 stars!!!!

hey stockylocky
(haven't been checking my emails) the best way to control Live with the Nocturn is by using the Automap MIDI option, to enable it you have to click on the Automap's 'A' in the system tray, go to 'MIDI Output Port' and 'MIDI Input Port' and select 'Automap MIDI' then go to 'MIDI Channels' and select which channels you want to use, doing this will create a 'Control Map' in the 'User' group, Automap automatically assigns MIDI CC parameters to all the knobs and buttons, to change these just click on a knob, button or crossfade in Automap and select another MIDI CC from the 'Parameter' pop-up. Now in Live, turn 'Remote' 'ON' for 'Automap MIDI's' input and output, you might also want to put 'Track' 'ON' as well, then press 'MIDI' in Live to assign your Nocturn controls to Live instruments and effects, that should do it!?

Their website was bugging me too the other day because i had a crazy problem with Nocturn..well! with Automap, which made my Nocturn practically unusable, and after trying everything i could think of apart from re-installing XP since i know the problem wasn't there at first...anyway that didn't work, so i re-installed XP and discovered the problem was caused by a program called Sandboxie, byebye Sandboxie (..liked that program as well)

As many as you like.

What's also cool is that you can repeat a parameter so if you want you can have filter cutoff (for example) on different pages. Handy!

I'm selling my BCR this is waaaay better.

i was wondering how you record changes/tweaks to automapped plug-ins into an ableton arrangement...is it possible ? or can you only do it by using the automap midi client ?

If it's one of the 128 VST parameters that Live can recognize/record you can do it by tweaking the Nocturn. If it's not then there's no way to automate it, but that's Live. The Nocturn recognises up to 2048 VST parameters.

Best thing is being able to tweak VSTs with their window closed.
It directs your attention from looking at a picture of a synth or whatever and thinking about what this or that curve should look like to actually LISTENING to what you're doing. Great!

djsynchro,
that's one of the aspects i hoped for the nocturn. Is it set up in the plugin's preferences, that the GUI should not be displayed, or how does that work?

No you just don't open the window of the VST. :D

There are buttons "user" "fx" "inst" and "mixer" for example press "fx" now every encoder will display a VST name on the GUI, and when you touch the encoder it will then select that VST for editing.

You also have page -/+ buttons to scroll through all the VSTs. And you can name the VST to something descriptive like "KickCOMP"on its edit page so it's easier to find in the browser mode.

It's very Ableton Live, like racks it's a concept so you have to read the manual and scratch your head a few times but it's all really logical.

Watch the 11 videos on YouTube they're quite good

I thought the plugin's GUI opens automaticaly, if you select the plugin via Nocturn?

nope.

Nocturn should display the parameters of whatever VST you select, but that only works half here.

In the demo video the guy clicks on a Live track and Nocturn follows the VSTs that pop up. I can't get that to work. And I do have "Automap Focus Follows Plug-in UI" ticked.

Anybody else have this?
