Great flick! Super cinematography & an excellent soundtrack. Based on a really scary book too 'Hell House' by Richard Matheson.paradiddle wrote:An old one I liked: The legend of Hell house
Are you talking about the Roddy McDowel version or the old black and white version.paradiddle wrote:An old one I liked: The legend of Hell house
Really worth your time, & most definitely fits the criteria of creepy & scary!diverdee wrote:Mmmmmm Frailty looks interesting, I missed that one - reckon i'll have to check that out.

Both good, but I like the old one best.
I think you may be confusing the Roddy McDowel film 'The Legend of Hell House' 1973 with 'The Haunting' 1963. 'The Haunting' has a similar plot about an investigation of Hill House.Noel wrote:Are you talking about the Roddy McDowel version or the old black and white version.paradiddle wrote:An old one I liked: The legend of Hell house

'The Haunting' is in black & white, is directed by Robert Wise, & is very scary! It involves a university professor bringing in two women, one who is an acknowledged psychic, the other having experienced odd psychical happenings in her youth, along with the house's young soon-to-be owner, to investigate Hill House. Things get out of control, to say the least!
Spot on, I was getting them confused. I remember watching the haunting when I was quite young scared the shit out of me. The Catherine Zeta Jones version is pretty spooky as well, but lacks the atmosphere of the original.oblique strategies wrote:I think you may be confusing the Roddy McDowel film 'The Legend of Hell House' 1973 with 'The Haunting' 1963.
