now, a comadore 64 "SID Chip" is only 8bit, so wheres the quality in that, ok you can spend time on the composition but 8 bit sound is still 8 bit sound...
some of the dance music currently available kicks ass, the best it's EVER BEEN!!
Anyway, we were talking about sample quality not bloody oldschool computers

People are all over Flying Lotus, for example, and he uses 8 bit sounds/samples in his work - it's the mastering that really makes a difference, not a mic on the front end, not the price of the mic, not soundproofing when you're using strictly samples and virtual instruments or keyboards directly pugged in to an interface, not the price or sample quality of the samples you download, none of that shit matters, it's the mastering that makes 100% of the difference...you and I can argue all day, but you're the only one complaining in this thread, and other people see it for what it is, which is a resource of free samples for which you aren't even qualified to say "yes, I know for a fact those were made cheaply". On top of that fact, if the samples offer inspiration to the listener, even if they don't use the samples, that inspiration is worth more than anything you could buy to make your sound quality better, except maybe mastering.
I don't expect you to have the same opinion as me, but if you don't like the samples, don't download them, go buy some, whatever you want to do, but don't discount the significance of free to those who can't afford to buy samples (samples that may not be any better than the free ones, by the way), or the significance of inspiration, which is something that can't be bought, only stumbled upon, and to say something is shit without knowing for sure it is, is presumptuous, at best.
Now let everyone else who wants these samples have at them...
