I'm having flashbacks to a friend who's idea of a party was inviting a bunch of people over to drink and we'd all gather around her computer so she could continue to play World of Warcraft. Her interaction with us consisted of half hearted "Uh huh"s, "Yeah"s, and fake laughs because she obviously wasn't really paying attention to any of us. Dark days. We're not friends anymore.

So what apps is everybody rocking right now?

I have to say I rarely hit up the music category and when I do it's the most disappointing of the lot.

I'm still rocking LiveControl. All other music apps are toys and jiz machines that have no MIDI capability. I don't care if a new iPad synth has 3000 filters, the best sequencer on the planet, etc etc etc. No MIDI = it's a toy for making music whilst taking a shit.

I realize this is just the reworking of an old screen saver but it's not half as impressive or clever as when it's sitting on your nightstand or some other strategic location that can't fit a fish tank and isn't obviously a computer screen.

If you're a developer, Apple have made an iPad version of the Reference Library documentation - works really nicely, optimised for the iPad, like having a reference book always on hand so you can keep the laptop for xcode without having to switch windows. Ok, completely irrelevant for most users, but discovered it today and it's very useful for me...

Has anybody tried a bluetooth keyboard with the iPad yet?

Also I'm looking for a case that can also double as a stand that will be equally as good horizontal or vertical. The Apple case works ok as a vertical stand, although I'd like a slight slant, but not horizontal. There looks like there's some leather cases that might work well but I don't want my iPad looking like a copy of the Bible and there's too much button and snap faggotry on them.

I got my iPad last week. I downloaded Chippad yesterday and have been dropping in samples from old sets. It's reallyreallyreally good. I'm going to try LiveControl next. If it's as good as it looks, it might be time to sell the APC40....

Apparently the paid version of the Atomic Browser has one - "In Page Search feature... to find a word within a web page"... this is what you're after, right? Haven't tried it, but for €0.79, worth giving a go... But yes, very annoying that Safari doesn't have it... or at least I haven't found it...

Doh. I've got Atomic Browser and didn't even see it, lol. It's located in the Google search box. Press the box and then you can hit the find word option.

Sometimes I catch myself softly stroking the shiny black Apple logo with my fingertips on the back if the iPad as I'm reading. I'll stroke the shape from side to side, trace the outline, or just run my tips in circles.

I'm not a big gamer but I've been noticing game developers for the iPad seem to have problems ramping up the difficulty levels gradually on their games.

A lot of the games I've played seem to be using this leveling formula:

blind retard easy
stupid easy
super easy
easy
same easy
slightly less easy
FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE

I don't know what comes after FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE because that's when I quit and move on to something else. Games were meant to be fun and I really don't want to throw my iPad across the room the way I've done with so many console controllers.

I dig tower defense games too. My favorite is Fieldrunners, but I'm still rocking the iPhone version because it's one of the many examples of developers adding zero changes, not even taking advantage of the larger screen size, maybe making the graphics slightly better, and then charging more for it simply because it's the iPad "HD" version.

The game I'm currently throwing difficulty fits about is Diner Dash. The only reason I bought it is because I played it briefly on a floor model iPad at a Best Buy while I was waiting around and it was fun. But at home I got to about level 6 or 7 and it just got exceedingly difficult. I should have known though because even on console games I get annoyed with beat the clock challenges and that's usually about the time I quit playing and move on to something else.

Also I got the tower defense game with the aliens and the sheep but I'm not really a fan. The graphics are too large and primitive for the screen real estate and resolution. It moves too fast and there's too many weapon choices. It's essentially the strategy equivalent of button mashing fighting games: go for it and hope for the best.
