@silverfish is your first go to machine for lo fi drums to sample off of the MPC60 or the machinedrum UW?

For more static lo-fi drum samples, the MPC. For anything with a newer, crisper flavor, the Machinedrum. I like having the option of "old" sound and "new" sound. A great pair.

The only issue on my 60 is that I haven't upgraded the OS to 3.10 yet, and I don't want to unlearn a machine later. This last year I've been in the process of moving to Canada, and I'm finally mostly settled, starting a new job tomorrow. Hopefully before spring I can get that upgrade (before Mr. Linn changes his mind again about selling them).

That is absolutely beautiful. The only problem is that all of those synths would probably offset the acoustics of the room. And maybe create interference in audio cables.

Do you experience a faint hiss from your Yamahas' tweeters? I recently bought a pair and they hiss a bit even if disconnected from the interface (so no ground problem). No big deal, but I had to move them further away, so it's not in my face

Not that I've noticed, but I've only had them a few days and haven't got everything completly sorted yet. RTFMing and waiting for firewire cables at the mo!

On closer listening, yes they do hiss. I can only hear it with my ear a foot or so from the speaker, at normal listening distance I can't hear it at all. It is the same volume whatever the level is set to.

In my experience, almost all powered monitors have some hiss. Even my $3k Opals have it a tiny bit if you get real close to them.
