Very OT, 9/11
For anyone who thinks that violence can play ANY part in bringing about peace, please see the film "Munich" which I just saw last night.
Much is made these days of the "new" type of war that we are fighting, and that somehow this is an excuse for actions that would otherwise be frowned upon.
I don't want to provoke flames from either side of this one, but I can't see how further hostility can be any part of a future (hopefully not too distant) peace.

If you are completely against war/conflict under any circumstances then I'm afraid you aren't living in reality. It is very likely we will see much more war throughout our lives. As long as people who wish to take the world back to the 7th century continue their Jihad, we will have war.
Do we need to point out the obvious?

Do we need to point out the obvious?

The westerners in the US are the war mongering assholes in this day and age.FireForEffect wrote:As long as people who wish to take the world back to the 7th century continue their Jihad, we will have war.
FEAR
"Let's Have A War"
There's so many of us [x many]
Let's have a war
So you can go and die!
Let's have a war!
We could all use the money!
Let's have a war!
We need the space!
Let's have a war!
Clean out this place!
It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!
Let's have a war!
Jack up the Dow Jones!
Let's have a war!
It can start in New Jersey!
Let's have a war!
Blame it on the middle-class!
Let's have a war!
We're like rats in a cage!
It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!
Let's have a war!
Sell the rights to the networks!
Let's have a war!
Let our wallets get fat like last time!
Let's have a war!
Give guns to the queers!
Let's have a war!
The enemy's within!
It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!

sorry for the long post...
Here is some trivia for you FFE.
Its relevant given all the talk of liberals Vs conservatives in this thread.
Australia's Prime Minister Howard is the leader of the Liberal Party.
There are really only 2 parties in Australia with the Liberal Party being the right wing party and the Australian Labor Party being to the left.
Over the last 10 years or so its really been quite challenging identifying what the difference between the two parties is..........

Given the length of some of the posts on this thread, I don't think you need to worry.DeadlyKungFu wrote: ... sorry for the long post...
Honestly, count the (non cut and paste) words in some of those posts and it's obvious that even a professional copy typist would take an hour or more to input them, and thats without pausing for thought!
Think about it guys, how much time have you spent on this thread over the last week. Review what you have posted over the course of this thread and ask yourself if you're not becoming a little obsessive. I don't mean about the politics (It's good to care about what is happening in the world) but about your determination to get the last word in a discussion forum.
whether left, right or center it's a good thing to be politically aware, and the time and effort that has gone into espressing your points of view on this forum is impressive. I just wonder if it couldn't be applied more effectively.
It's none of my business how you spend your time, but I can't help but wonder about what state of mind of people who spend so much of thier time and emotional energy arguing with strangers on computer message boards.
It also bothers me slightly that I got sufficiently drawn into the thread to post this response. I Must try to resist looking at these threads in future. With a few notable exceptions most of the posts on this thread have hardly been edifying.
"That very perceptive of you Mr Stapleton, and rather unexpected... in a G Major"
Sort of the same way I use it. I'm not a DJ; I use live as a sketchpad for musical ideas and as a traditional DAW. "Video game for your ears" is an apt description...very addictive.astronmr20 wrote:Pilcrow,
It's basically my new writing tool, as soon as I eventually collect enough of the sounds that I'm used to using in Logic... a grand piano, es-1, evp88, etc. For most of that stuff I will have to bite the bullet and buy new ones, IE lounge lizard to replace evp. etc. I may still mix in Logic though; just very used to traditional DAW's for mixing and it will take a while.
I've already taken a few old "full mixes" and done some insane stuff with them! Set the tempo, And suddenly I'm dropping drum samples over the mix that sync up right away. Fun stuff.. almost like a video game for your ears.
Yes, my 100th post. I'd like to take a moment to acknowledge all the folks who've made this possible. To mom and dad, who always encouraged me to follow my musical interests and to behave civilly in conversations about politics and religion. To my wife and kids, who continue to give Dad the creative space to spend time blathering on Internet forums. And to my day job, which apparently isn't enough to hold my interest for a solid eight hours every day.
