Agreed. If it weren't for the SERIOUS BUSINESS of music production I almost don't need a laptop at all. At first I thought it not being able to multitask would be an issue but I actually like that and almost wish my computers didn't multitask because then I would be less likely to get distracted by amusing bullshit when I should be focusing on music.
^ get to work

More iPhone related than iPad, but I like it in here. Nothing quite like going for a sunset stroll streaming some ambient down tempo on Pandora through headphones and being able to buy a dope track linked to iTunes on the spot. This is the magic. Magic.

Instant digital download will never die!!!!

there's some sort of usb adapter for the ipad right?
is there an app that would allow you to use a tiny usb portable drive with it?

I want to take a load of samples on an external usb drive and edit the audio on the ipad save back to the drive.

Nope, there's sort of an option to sync files via iTunes, but it's only for certain files and apps.

But once you got the pics on your iPad you can sync them :)

I'm interested in the video out adaptor but I've read a lot of complaints that it either doesn't work or is extremely limited in what it will output. It should just mirror whatever you have going on, on the screen of the iPad. Major bonus points if one can do some kind of dual monitor thing where the video out shows one thing and what is going on, on the iPad is different like a controller but that's probably also tied to specific app development.

But at this point in history anybody should be able to easily hook up a mobile device that plays videos to any TV for instant movie night.

how does one use the ipad for an audio editor, not to control an audio editor, but
to edit samples on the go,
don't tell me there's no app for that?.............I thought they had an app for everything and if there is an app for that how does one get the samples into and out of the ipad?

What type of editing do you want to do?

Over in the serious part of the forum there's an iPad app thread, and I believe there's some sample manipulation apps listed.

Still no midipad app. Biggest piece of vapourware in recent memory by far.

Still loving the iPad as an eReader, btw. Anyone else consistently reading books on the iPad? I've totally gotten used to the weight of this thing; as opposed to a standard eReader.

Audiofile has some new stuff coming up for the iPad, they've hinted at a sample editor too.

Yep, using it as a reader has been its most useful feature for me so far. I've been downloading music books for the Kindle app and set it right on the music stand with the rest of the books. Having every fake book in an electronic device is a beautiful thing.
