The situation we face now is that you have derailed a good thread by diving in and misunderstanding what is obviously a joke to anyone who speaks English and has a sense of humour. It is called a comedic juxtaposition, where you say something unexpected. Following 'gentle and polite' with an insult in the same sentence is comedic device.
