Something that makes everybody happy

Allow collaboration between people running different versions of Live.

eg.

an "Export for previous versions" option.

and/or

an updated version of Live 8 that is capable of opening files created with Live 9 even if some features are unavailable.

Partner or hire U-he for and make the new berlin modular the Ableton berlin modular.

1. Global LFO device.

2. Momentary option for MIDI mapping.

3. Mousewheel scroll, especially in piano roll.

4. Cut/copy/paste in ALL relevant context/right click menus.

5. Ability to change common parameters of multiple devices in racks.

6. 'Save as' NOT defaulting to inside the last project you saved.

#1 for me for live use; been asking for this for a LONG time.

Each optimized for their own particular Tasks?

Maybe Live by itself is getting a bit bloated for Live work.

That's not the point. The argument was that Live is getting too bloated for live use. So, the real question is "What would you remove from the version meant for live use?"

The Studio version should have everything (and all instruments and effects should have the hi-quality setting as default).

In that case, what recent items would you remove for Live use and in hope of improving stability?

• Arrangement? So no-one can record their performances? I bet some people wouldn't like that
• M4L ? So no-one can use M4l devices? I bet some people wouldn't like that
• VST support? So no-one can use 3rd party effects or instruments? I bet some people wouldn't like that
• Plugin Delay Compensation? So all your beats are now out of time because you used a compressor? I bet some people wouldn't like that
• new warp modes like Complex? I bet some people wouldn't like that

I'm interested to see what you would remove in order to satisfy performers, I think you'll find different people use different things.

its just getting to bloated because of no design progress at the core.. this applies to studio and stage work..all features that make live good there are present since version one .. just the controler support has seen some improovements..

all problems the program ever had stay the same since live 1..

The only thing brilliant was the initial concept ..its funny that there was so little development from that point..maybe they have taken the idea from somebody that wasnt involved in the further design process?

while the first version showed a clear vision and an modern aproach towards comfort and direct access
we only got a handfull of standard age old daw features and a few medicro software synths added in allmost 10 years development time.. but no further development in the initial handling concept what ultimatly clashes with the added features.. the integration of midi and how it breaks with the own design conventions and its general lack of any comfort or modern vision behind it tells the whole story..aswell as the struggle to get it working at all..3 years they needed to have it functional.. and still ..the thru handling is a joke.. uncomfortable.. and on stage? forget it..its not ment for stage use...

the relation between arranger and session grid is poor and underdeveloped.. grouptracks are just added and half developed.. syncing hasnt seen any improovements since 2001.. therefore half developed.

even the remote handling which maybe has seen the only real improovements from day one still apears half developed in relation what one would lile to do or what 3rd party developers deliver as extra scripts..

and the soundquality has imrooved.. which was pisspoor and now still only matches the yesterdays quality of the other daw´s
but ok.. its decend enough now .. not top nothch. a good yesterdays floating poimt standard..which was good enough to produce records 10 years ago..so why bother now just because nuendo sounds a bit nicer?..

however..life is a funny program. has fancy integrations of max but a midi that qualifies as a joke and generates its own extra jitter.. really funny.. paralympics funny.. impressive and tragic ..big head and glassbone legs

however.. this all or little for 10 years development time only leads to the conclusion that the abelton developmemt team or agenda behind it, is not up to the task. and we cant expect top notch software from them. just looks over function.
the promotion is the more important than the user interface design..
The program will stay a compromize that will get some new toys and problems while keeping the old.
a bit bloated describes it pretty well. with luck it stays at least a toy somehow.. at least the main target audience are beginners and wannabe dj´s. so the presets should get an overhaul.. they are not very impressive..at least in comparison to garage band and the magix music maker.
