Re: OT: LOST
Pretty decent finale. Totally didnt expect the alternate timeline to be that... And it wasnt really purgatory; in the classic sense anyway. More like a final meet and greet before shuffling off the mortal coil.
Major cop-out not really explaining what the island or the light really was. Not even a little bit, lol. But to be expected, I suppose.
And where was Eko? And Walt?

(hadn't seen it yet...will only have time to watch tommorrow)
but I'll take a chance anyways :
it's not real life that's for sure...
Hurley would've gotten thinner with time (no fried chicken +all that walking around )...and with the additional 'supernatural' aspect
dream and purgatory fit the bill...(but insinuating that they have an affect on reality)
it's 'lord of the flies' on a wider scale (not just society/culture/human-nature)...
the world on a smaller scale..(we're all stranded on this island... our actions will affect the world around us..even the world we can't see)
to me it's just a mish-mash of scientific/existential/theological theories/beliefs about our reality..
even in the final episode..I doubt they will flat out tell us what it is (they don't know..so can't)
the best they can do is send the ol' positive vs. negative consequences of our actions..maybe leave us with a positive message
there is a white entity.. a black entity.. the humans are in between...not seeing the full picture..
both have followers (clash of destinies) not really knowing what their actions are causing ...
and so are left to act only on their beliefs..(free will)
Loads of Biblical philosophy/Kaballa ideas in there.. while not mentioning god himself...
they got to the core of it without really touching the 'amorphous' god (although there is a mysterious kid telling "Locke" he broke the rules)
(the black priest/ex criminal(killed).. and the jesus statues filled with Heroin were a nice touch way back when..
saying let's take that out of the equation.. )
also the wheel...
the atomic weapon is a defining event.. although it is insinuated that there are still unknown and powerful powers hidden from us
(the light in the center of the island...)
so it doesn't really matter how it ends.. it's been a good show. thought provoking and universal..
ok... I have to go to work...long day ahead !

we never got the name of the man in black.
did I miss it?
I really liked the stained glass, behind the coffin, in the church.

Re: OT: LOST
Makes total sense to me. Really enjoyed it. The things that don't make sense are flaws in the story that I'm willing to let go for the emotional and dramatic impact of the character arcs.
Wish the final death hadn't happened though...

All I wanted to know was what was up with the polar bears. No dice.

^they explained that two seasons ago - it was a Dharma experiment. But I never bought it. Frankly, I think it has something to do with Starbuck.
