Trying to do standard typing on the iPad really is abysmal. I've got the flying thumb action going. Getting to the 'b' is sometimes a challenge, but other than that I can really cruise on this thing.

That's truly a bummer about your Macbook but while you are here look at this way. What if you were part of the Apple haters that don't want to fork out extra money for Apple products and would rather spend the money saved on car seat covers, nerf bats, lawn flamingos, and whatever else they would rather spend their money on. If your PC crashed what alternative device does Microsoft and their codependent hardware manufacturers offer? That's right. NOTHING!
You chose wisely.

I think I need to spend some serious time this weekend cleaning out my app collection. I have way more apps than I use and at this point I don't even care if I paid for it. If I don't like or use it then into the trash it goes...aside from music apps. I fantasize I might actually use those some day.
I'm somewhat of an abuser of "limited time introductory $0.99 price." I've blown a dollar on things far less potentially useful or entertaining. Wait, I couldn't tell you the last time I only spent only a dollar on something other than apps. And people complain about Apple's pricing structure. You can't even find shit in a dollar store anymore that actually costs just a dollar.

I have just tethered my iPad to my iPhone 3G . It works like a dream. I am near the end of my contract so I don't care if it gets cancelled. Since I installed version 4 of iOS it has been running like a pig but now with my iPad it has a new lease of life. Plus I am saving money from getting an additional sim in France which are a rip off compared to england.
Btw the mywi app runs in the background
Me
If anyone needs any details on what to do just ask.
Cheers

Let me clarify a few things for myself.
So you got an iPad that doesn't have 3g? I thought about doing that to save some money myself but damn I'm glad I got a 3g version because there's been more times than I predicted that it's come in handy. I think I was predicting lack of 3g needs based on my laptop usage which might as well be a desktop because it rarely leaves my desk. But I take my iPad everywhere and it doesn't even cross my mind that there's no wifi in sight because I have the 3g….including when I'm a passenger in a car for many miles, never without the net.
So you're tethering it to your iPhone to get Internet? I know the pricing structure is different over there but they just added the tethering option with the release of the iPhone 4 here and the price increase coupled with monthly data transfer limitations makes it a stupid option. Maybe it's useful if you're Mr. Traveling Business Man and need to fuck around with your email 24/7, but for internet browsing use or streaming audio or video, so not worth it. I hope you get a better deal over there.

I have 3G capability on my iPad but I prefer not to pay twice so am tethering.
I use the 3G sim in England.

I will be taking my iPad out with me a lot more now that I can surf without signing up to 3G or finding a hotspot. Surfing with the iPad is miles better than on the crippled 3G with iOS 4. It also means guests can surf with me when we are on the move. I hope that clarifies stuff.

That makes sense. I did an assessment a few months ago of my monthly internet expenses to have access on all possible devices at all times and I determined I'm forking out a stupid amount of money, but as I don't have a wife or kids to support or a mortgage to pay I figure I can compensate for the void created by my lack of life accomplishments with my impressive seamless access to the internet at all times.

But it won't pull any girls (of note), sadly

But neither would the extra $25 a month I would have in my bank account if I didn't use the 3g on my iPad.

I'm in the Apple store right NOW and there's at least a dozen kids in blue shirts who's sole function seems to be polishing the screens on the iPad display models after people test them.
God what a great company.

You mean like when you go to the toy store and find the isle with the push button noise making stuffed animals and go for a personal best on how quickly you can push every single one?
