Less than 24 hours in rave reviews about Mountain Lion are already flooding in. These must be from users who only use stock and basic programs. I refuse to believe Mountain Lion is 100% compatible with everything out the gate and anybody who believes otherwise is dumb.

Has this - audio-woes-now-on-new-apple-os-not-just-new-apple-laptops-ni-driver-fix-in-beta - been posted here already?

^ Microsoft make their money off the seemingly overpriced OS. Apple make their money off the clearly overpriced hardware. it's in Apple's best interest to just make their OS better for the (around) 5 products they charge a premium (a la hardware) to run it on... while it's in Microsoft's best interest to make their OS work with the (probably) 100,000 products they charge a premium to run theirs on.

they really are two different models, but most end users only see the GUI and enclosure. they have no idea the amount of tediousness that both companies go through to get to that point.

if Apple stops developing the OS beyond updates (for a time) then their profit margin greatly increases on the home computing level. it gives them more money to dump into R&D (iOS and other gadgets).

I think we’re in agreement there. But I’m not saying Apple will stop developing their OS or even slowdown, but they can afford to add some major features as part of a free update periodically. Microsoft can’t afford to do that because it would cut off a majority of their revenue stream.


In other news….

Some long time iPhone users are saying they just can’t get excited about the upcoming new iPhone no matter the features. I can understand that but I still can’t help but think it’s a fucking phone. Android, Windows, or iOS, exactly what do people want their phone to do that it doesn’t already? I don’t even think it’s about specs or OS, people just want to be blown away by some feature they never even thought of and I don’t think any manufacturer is going to deliver that.

All the talk seems to be about screen size now. Again, it’s a fucking phone. Does a bigger screen suddenly put your video watching experience on par with an IMAX screen?

I guess I’m just not a phone power user and to me there’s activities that are far better served on a tablet or computer.

I really need to get more into the multitouch gestures. I know a few but also some seem to happen by accident WHICH PISSES ME OFF. Sometimes a second finger accidently brushes the surface and next thing you know my browser shot 3 pages back when I was just trying to scroll down a page.

Haaaaa, NICE. Personally I think Ballmer's a tool so Windows getting the shaft is always funny imo. Pretty cool Valve is porting to Linux as well though last time I tried Half-Life 2 in Wine back when Ubuntu was Edgy Eft(?) there weren't any problems iirc.

Anybody else having a problem in the App Store app on the iPad where the screen shots load about 2/3rds above the window line but eventually center themselves?

When I reset it works....for about 2 hours.

Then it breaks again.

That's easily fixed by buying a new iPad.

One of the new nuggets in Apple’s lawsuit against Samsung is Best Buy documents stating some customers returned their Samsung tablet because they thought they were getting an iPad.

But that kind of shit probably happens with all kinds of products when purchased by idiots who can’t be bothered with checking even basic information. Every TV manufacturer should be suing each other because most TVs look the same on the isle. “I’ll take the thin one with the black border”.
