christ nathann, sometimes it amazes me that you remember to breath.
that look is the classic gen Y look that's in ALL the recent teenage movies, classic look. take Michael Cera, he looks like that half the time he's on screen. yes, movies very much matter when setting trends. life imitates art, art imitates life.
still, I'd kick my own ass before dressing like that.

Faux pas! He's not wearing an iPod! He's got the
Panasonic Portable with a cute protective sock-sleeve.

you really think that could pass..
no shoe's can help that sweater.
and the belt is not stylish
plaid tucked in with jeans? i guess if your going for lumberjack.
and all this talk about ck..
they make some nice dressy clothes but they also make some bad ones.
i feel you should never buy something just on who makes it.
i hear a lot of people say things like "oh this is in style i seen it in a add at so and so.. or this is in style because it was on display".. thats a bad way to look at clothes. i can go into almost any clothing store and pick out a few carts full of clothes that are not in style but, only come out with a few outfits that are in.
OK, you are misquoting me...
Of course CK makes some bad clothes...thier jeanswear division is a nightmare, but most labels jeanswear sucks. I mearly suggested CK as it's readily available in most department stores and the business casual stuff tends to look rather nice, pret a porter. CK is not the end all and be all of my wardrobe and I'm not advocating that it should be for anyone else, either. uit was just mentioned as a starting point... just like Kenneth Cole.
Personally, my favorite designer is Band of Outsiders, who I also mentioned but figure not too many people know. Check it out. Kinda pricey but the stuff is rather timeless.

The official term for this, at least for guys is "shirt cockers". A scary breed to be sure!
