Perhpas if Live had a useful multi-track export feature, then the issue of migrating your work to another DAW to take advantage of a more feature rich wouldnt be such a big deal.

Something like select a bunch of tracks (including returns!) and they all got exported as wavs together in a folder with sensible name to make loading them all up into another daw easy.

Currently exporting all your work is so much of a pain in the arse I just carrry on in Live.

Even better of course if Live supported one of the emerging DAW data interchange formats as well - even if probably no other DAW is as flexible on routing and live doesnt understand the concept of group tracks, folders etc etc.

I'm sure you are totally incorrect. You are making a sweeping generalization. You are assuming that all those who use Ableton Live, have your philosophy, and your outlook.

At least Live has a multiple export - Cubase only allows export of single tracks at a time. Although it does have .omf which is useful for working in other DAWS if they support .omf files.

Reaper is more flexible routing than even Live.

Live is what it is. I love it in spite of it's weaknesses.

I'm a Live user since version 3. I use lots of outboard with Live and i'd like sysex but not that much. If the company is reluctant to do a rewrite then I trust their judgement. Its not worth it for LFO's and session automation IMO. Find work arounds for your difficulties. Are we making music or are we just amusing ourselves interacting with software then calling the software stale when we have felt out all the corners of its capabilities?

Its good to put pressure on companies to perform better but at some point all pressure will start to become counterproductive maybe leading programmers to go against their instincts and we'll be left with something less then what we have now. I say this with a recent post by R. Henke in mind where he mentions some posts on this forum having a buzz killing effect at Ableton HQ.

That's just silly. What about those of us who are well versed in regular daws and what they do (I personally use Cubase4) and adore Live as for its songwriting/sequencing functionality. I don't need a major rewrite because Live is firing on all cylinders for me as an incredible on-the-fly sequencing tool, with some of the best FX i've heard (and most fun to use, too). And it's as deep as you want it to be -- I keep finding new things to do with racks, for example. Or resampling, screwing with ins/outs...blah blah, etc etc. I don't want nor need Live to become a standard DAW. I mix & mixdown in cubase. but Live has become my central songwriting station, and is where I use all my instrument plugins.
