*Laments Novation's seeming non-interest in making use of their synthesis R&D*
I still have a KS-4 and I still love it. Some programming quirks, but it makes some fabulous leads. Why are Novation not doing more with their synth tech? I'm sure most of us have all the controllers we need by now...

I think the new Zero looks pretty kick-ass.

I might actually consider selling my current Zero for the new one so I can those juicy nocturn style soft rotaries.

That could turn out to be a pretty expensive upgrade.
I have had my Remote Zero advertised locally for 160 Euro for about a month, and got no bites. It's not worth my while selling it for less so I'll probably keep it as a secondary/live controller.
Nice that Automap 3 works with multiple Novation devices, that is something I'll have to look into further.

Do we know for sure that they feel like the nocturn's encoders? Or are they the SL encoders with an LED ring? That is the question.

No it says on their website chat they got rid of the clicky rotaries and replaced them with smoove ones

From the Novation website.....
Top row of encoders are now smooth, rather than detented.
Result!

Really gutted they released a 49 key. I just bought the 37 last month (61 was too big).

So the new Zero has 60mm sliders now too!?
That was always my least favourite part of the Mk1, even more so than the detented encoders, especially when DJing. If they had to lose the righthand screen i'm glad it was to add better faders.

There is still the problem of having to scroll through a lot of pages with up/down arrows. It would be better if they allowed the buttons to access different pages directly. I think maybe the SL compact does that, not sure. Unless that's a new feature of the mkII? I doubt it though.

yawn.
and fail.
if a company is going to release a pricey controller the least they can do is throw on some motorized faders, which it this point in the game shouldn't be considered exotic.
yeah, you too AKAI. there will still be the cheap m-audio controllers for people who don't care about that type feature.
