that's retarded.
Ableton fries USB devices?
data only protocol?
WHAT?!?!?!? hilarious!!
oh really, mr. deft?!
let me ask you a question - how do you think are USB-powered soundcards are POWERED?

we know this by now.. ablton live is not compatible with certain apple computers..your machines are compatible my is not..
But Ableton dont has the balls to anounce the uncompatibilitys or was able to get an idea since july which machines are involved..
what sounds again very unlikely..
Isnt the truth maybe rather that ableton again decided thats better to fuck the handfull of effected pro users, that are stupid enough to prefer a littel macbook over a bulky macbookpro, than anouncing a problem in public what would scare thousends of amateur users ?
We are not compatible to cheap apple computers?
Sorry..digidesign dont waits a minute to declare own incompatibilitys with certain computers..thats professionell..
Because the pro user can react to that and change to a new laptop instead wastig time with waiting.
The performance of ableton regarding finding the midibug that was known to them at least since end of juli is more than lame...
One ableton official told us that they only was able to reproduce the bug 2-3 weeks ago...
So they needed over 2 month to reproduce a bug that effects 50% of the macusers when using midi, that has slipped tru month of betatesting.
Am i really the only one that thinks that this is not very great?

from the 5V 500mA supplied from the USB port.
tell me mr 4.33 tell me, what are the voltage and current limits on a midi port?

ditto! which is enough to introduce an abnormal low-resistance connection between two nodes of an electrical circuit that are meant to be at different voltages. this results in an excessive electric current (overcurrent) limited only by the Thevenin equivalent resistance of the rest of the network and potentially causes circuit damage, overheating, fire or explosion
get it?

you guys are spending way too much time helping the idiot w/the bootleg software. I've seen guys w/legitimate licenses and problems not get this much attention/help.

This thread is a big ball of fail already. I'm just here to watch it spin further out of control.

are you high?
slap some zener diodes on there for overvoltage protection, that's common practice, without which they wouldn't pass regulatory compliance. the input stage would be a CMOS input of high impedance. this is basic electronic design.
what a load of crap.
and you didn't answer my question about midi.
you're blaming Live for frying electronics, that's completely retarded. you're making a hardware statement.

i am only blaming myself for having used cracked software

, see:

turned out i had to pay a $274 fine to ableton in order to receive the healing code which unfried my soundcard
so i'm making a software statement

This thread is a metaphor goldmine.
With 3phase its like trying to help an old lady across the street, only to get beaten because the old lady assumed you were trying to steal her purse.

So you are claiming that Ableton confirmed to you that some anti-piracy code in their software created a software-induced hardware failure?
Emails or it didn't happen.
EDIT: even asking this makes me feel like I've absorbed a little of the "tard" from this thread.

Someone please point out that if he literally fried the soundcard with high current on the input (over USB? . . . ), then there's no way a 'healing code' could fix it, and if it wasn't a hardware frying then a quick driver wipe and factory reset / firmware install should fix that.
