To me this sounds like owning a pc is a hobby in itself, and activities with it include upgrading it and upkeep, the focus on the unit itself rather than what you are actually doing with it. To me a computer should have an initial setup, and then for the rest of its working life never worry about the constant upkeep/distractions of defragging, antivirus and all the stuff you do to tweak it. If you like that fine, maybe your computer is a hobby more than music or whatever you want it for.
