This sounds like a "one button mouse" kinda deal.
Never used an iPhone or a Mac touchpad I assume? There are plenty of gesture-driven solutions for what you're talking about.

Oh, I know all about gestures and shift-clicking.
I'm just picturing a Zebra XY pad where you want to use it a certain way, and it keeps registering a "gesture-driven solution."
Just, a nightmare for people willing to ignore it.

lamest device ever created? don't you think you're being a but dramatical there? it's so lame that they're shipped with just about every desktop machine ever made and just about every computer user uses them. wow. can't wait for your next amazing evaluation of technology, you're a genius.
you can't judge how a touch screen will be used. five years ago would we really have predicted how the iPhone's gestures would have worked? it's a nice system, very intuitive, it's fun to watch n00bs try it the first time, for the most part it just works.
watch some Ted talks on this stuff to get some inspiration. some of you guys just hate, with no imagination.

OK 3twat... another great point, just a personal attack. you're always a twat, what can you expect?
the mouse is one of the worst inventions ever. I'd really hate to be the guy that owns the patent on the mouse. that would SUCK!
what an idiot.

Hah!
I worked with a guy who for years refused to use a mouse and the newfangled 'Windows'. He absolutely scorned the GUI and worked in DOS until the last. lol. He said that the mouse and GUI would ruin computing and be responsible for the 'dumbing down' of the entire Human Race.
From his standpoint both Apple and PC users (via Windows) were complete pussies.

it's just after 12 noon for both of us. supper? come inside? clearly I'm inside typing on a computer. what? you need to put the pipe down and look outside everyone once in a while. I'm all for a good joke on the forum but seriously, put some effort into it.
PoopStation - this guy?
