Maybe because to really accentuate the concepts shown here you would need someone who can properly demonstrate those concepts and seems as though they have a slight clue as to what they are demonstrating, regardless of gender.Machinesworking wrote: I'm mainly just disappointed that nobody cares about the actual concept and are all about her DJ skills, which I could give two shits about one way or the other.
Personally I watch that and I think, "Wow, the iPad is horrible".

Yeah, Apple policies on the iPhone are some of the most draconian ones I've yet to encounter. But I guess they have their reasons (?).drako wrote:
i have touch dj on my ipod, but i can't get my owm tunes even on it.
Why has apple this policy anyway not beable to load your own mp3's , it sux0rz
Anyway, you have downloaded the Amidio sync app from amidio.com right? That's the only way to transfer your own tunes into TouchDJ ATM AFAIK. It doesn't work for you?
BTW, If we're to stay more on topic, based on my experience of playing music/DJing with the iPhone, I'd say that iPad is going to be massive. With a bigger touchpad (and hopefully just a slightly improved digitizer module on the iPad compared to iPhone 3GS) it's going to be a blast using all the apps - I already heard rumours that Flare is going to be killer on it (2 decks & mic, anyone?) ;D
Scratching on a touchpad is actually very comparable to using a "vinyl-controller-platter" IMHO. Quite doable if you practice a bit. And you don't have to have 2 devices - just run the right app with 2xmono outs (2 separate soundlines hard panned left and right) and hook those on the mixer mono-style.
But running two iPads .. sheesh, it's like running 2 laptops (older ones) in tandem.. options are quite vast. I'd be tearing s**t up with a setup like that

I wait for the HP SLATE:

ha ha ha, on this thingy you can run a linux or win7. i know this unit has the power of a netbook only, but as midi touchinterface this would be nice.
i will write more if is tested
cheers

Yup, it's much cheaper to run apps like Touch DJ, Sonorasaurus Rex and Baby Decks DJ on one iPad:djwack wrote:Whoever tipped the app in the comments, big up! TouchDJ is like iPhone on crack :DDD My pals with nokias are going to be even more jealous tee hee hee
Also, for getting into DJing, an iPhone + TouchDJ app is a helluva lot cheaper intro setup than what she's selling
BTW, they are selling quality XLR outputs for ipods/iphones/ipads. Do a little searching and you'll find it.. at 60 euros it's looking like W1N to me, prolly going to get one soon from Thomann..

The HP Slate and other similar tablets coming out will run an OS like Windows which is designed to be used with a mouse and keyboard. Unless the OS itself and the applications you use on it are redesigned for touchscreens, just putting a touchscreen on there is not going to be anything like the experience you get on a device like the iPad.wehkah wrote:I wait for the HP SLATE:

This thread demonstrates that for sure... I've seen many far worse demos that never have the sort of blatant attacks like when it is a woman. The gleeful piling on is as subtle as a slap in the face. This board is sexist as hell.Machinesworking wrote:Never mentioned you in particular as sexist, but the board sure lets out a mighty male mouse roar when it's a female. The squeals of delight and insults are harder and faster, every time.
As for the setup, it looks interesting and I think she did a fair job of an impromptu showing of the features she wanted to show while also talking coherently to the camera.
And for the critics, get a couple iPads and let's see you do better. Put up or shut up.
