delicate flower, aren't you.
where in this post did i dare to state that you were wrong about anything?
you're talking about the cc data resolution when using the IAC bus. i don't hear any stepping, tbh.
but then i'm not testing the thing with an ultra-critical ear. i'm just mapping stuff to knobs and making cool modulated sounds, not studying the barely noticeable stepping. besides, it all gets recorded into automation and gets thinned badly anyway, so unless you're talking about live performance, where no-one will notice miniscule stepping of an LFO on a soundsytem, i don't see (hear) the problem with using IAC.
anyway, i certainly don't have a critical ear when it comes to picking up modulation 'jitter' or whatever you want to call it. but the thinning you don't have to have a critical ear. just fire a square wave lfo from midishaper into the automation record. Live kindly turns it into a sawtooth lfo.

Please remind Sugarbytes about this issue, and refer them to the fact five12 have fixed/worked-around this simply by sending a packet in the background.
Yeah Jim is pretty awesome. Numerology was one of the main reasons I bought my iMac. The Sugarbytes issue is off the table for me though. I did what I was supposed to do and then they did what they do. Things didn't work out to my satisfaction so I sold the plug. That's how I like to vote. And in some fairness to SB I didn't have this problem in Reaper or any other host. Just Live. Only they can be the judge of what it's worth to them to keep customers. I wont beg anyone to take my money.

In the end I wouldn't have been happy until Ableton made it so I could route those channels without having to patch IAC stuff around. And they are as likely to do that as SB is to fix their issue. I'm not holding my breath for either...

this is a fantastic thread. Love the product, but i do hate routing. sigh... curve it is.

edit: fwiw i've been doing some loco routing stuff using dummy clips. not sure which would be "easier" but i do hate that IAC bus. clip envelopes are pretty awful to draw in though. I CAN NEVER WIN

I find it easier to catalogue presets rather than switch dummy clips. It also makes things a bit easier to transfer to other apps if needed.

We've just updated MidiShaper.

The new version brings a bugfix update for its waveform drawing (most of all there were issues with Mac OS X Lion).

Also, as said some posts ago, MidiShaper sometimes stops sending MIDI data to virtual MIDI ports. This is fixed now, we made sure that MidiShaper is now always running.

Hey all, there's yet another update which improves CPU usage and memory consumption for all our plugins, and fixes issues with some older hosts (.. which is not Ableton Live).

Also, you can still get the Cableguys Bundle for EUR 99/USD 129 until November 1st! So that's all our plugins (Curve, FilterShaper, VolumeShaper and MidiShaper) for less than the price of Curve.

More on that: http://www.cableguys.de

Did you try with the latest version? We've introduced a fix extra for Live (in previous versions Live though "oh MidiShaper is not doing anything" and stopped sending processing calls to MidiShaper.. but we've introduced a workaround for this lately).

Sure. Is it not working for you? If not, does it not work at all, or does MidiShaper work fine in the beginning and stops then? Are you using the latest version of Live? (If so, you can also email to [email protected] or pm if you want to, or post here.)

while recording, all looks good:

stop recording, Live thins the data to this:

i tried meddling with the options.txt midi thinning set to 0 etc but still thins the shit out of any incoming data, and any CCs recorded into clip modulation are stepped like crazy. pretty poor all round on Live's part, but i've gotten used to it.
A follow-up on this: I have this line in the Options.txt file (for Live 8.2.5), see http://www.ableton.com/de/pages/faq/options_text and it works fine for me:

-ThinningAggressiveness=0
