shiromi fernando - konda namageena. i totally love this piece of music. i heard it by accident late at night on the radio while on holiday in sri lanka a few years ago and managed to record a bit of it. eventually through various means i managed to work out what it was. nowadays i would have used soundhound i reckon. i got it as my alarm on my phone so it wakes me up every morning
and yeah - no one i know has ever heard of it, but whoever i play it to - they nearly always like it

I don't know if this counts, but wonder who on this forum knows Salala.
They are , um, huge in Madascar.
There's a wonderful bootleg recording of them doing a live version of their hit Lanitra Mangamanga that has been a viral classic here in Southern Africa for years. The tune is pretty simple, but the energy of the crowd is fantastic
