If I could find a Centrino with a 6-pin Firewire port I'd get one...

so, you traded in your Acer for a Sony? or do you have 2 centrinos now?raapie wrote:Make of computer: Sony PCG-Z1SP (Centrino)
This Sony looks fantastic and performs as fast as a fast desktop PC. It seems that the Sony fan is so quiet, I can only hear it jump in when I put my ears one inch above the keys. I love this one... it's so sexy!

i also love the lack of noise from my laptop. great design from intel and it's faster than my athlon desktop machine. amazing.
You could get a PCMCIA card with a 6 pin firewire port if that's absolutely necessary for you.Alex Reynolds wrote:If I could find a Centrino with a 6-pin Firewire port I'd get one...

and according to you pcmcia is only 20 mbits per second, so you want nothing to do with it. This is such a false and misleading statement you made on another thread and never corrected. And not only that, you said i needed to "do some research, please!". Give me a break, i did my research, and pcmcia is actually over 100 megaBYTES per second, and therfore faster than firewire, usb 2.0 or anything else for laptop.Alex Reynolds wrote:A six-pin Firewire connection through a PCMCIA port will not carry power.

You won't get 100MBPS from PCMCIA. The newer archtecture version CardBus and you're getting there not ISA controller based PCMCIA though.and according to you pcmcia is only 20 mbits per second, so you want nothing to do with it.
