This is great, good to come home to after a hard work day in the sun! :)

Everything seems good, only two questions:

1. Can you assign a key command to open and close the browser? (please be yes!)

2. Is there anything going on with MIDI editing? Any Improvements?

Neither of these are deal breakers, so much of what I wanted is included!
and if they're going to rope us into a embedded instrument, a sampler seemed like the most obvious choice, it was my first thought after seeing Operator, "Why this and not a full fledged sampler?"

Do you have any numbers as to how much CPU video playback takes?

I would assume that the improved midi editing functionality will come with "sampler.

you could drop 2 copies of your master into live and then use utility to use L on one and R on the other. or use the pan as the panning in ableton doesn't seem to move sound but simply remove the opposite side.. if that makes sense... panning left doesn't move your sound to the left it just removes the audio on the right

am I wrong?

Is it possible to rewire Live 6 into another host but use VSTi's in Live? This has been a major pain up till now

Cheers

no rewire slave can host plugins. it's not a limitation of live it's a limitation of the rewire protocol

i don't see that feature, but this is only the Alpha

this has always been possible with the routing in Live.
create a new audio channel and route audio to it.

hard to say, as it doesn't really effect Live's audio engine cpu meter.
and i think its mostly dependent on the GPU.

can't say right now, may have to wait till the Beta or Demo are available.

yeah, seems like it would use disk i/o and ram more than cpu

outside of self-contained compression, and the ability to have data within an .als easily imported to the Library, i haven't yet taken the plunge into that. maybe another camper/alpha-tester can chime in on that...
