im all for it

fuckn gimme crossfades.

actually guys we talked about this in depth when we went to berlin and met with the folks at ableton.

cubase didnt get crossfades overnight...

digidesign has always been frekkin huge and thats why pro tools have had this.

ableton know people want it, now they know people really want it and chances are you will see it in the next version of live.

i think most people arent sayin you should have crossfades but saying how there are practical methods to end results many people want. not everyone has 32 tracks goin on with nasty routings and shit and for them a duplicate and a quick envelope draw now and again is fine.

now the way forward is this.. ableton could make tracks capable of being two tracks essentially and doing crossfades within the track or they can ad a proper multistream method which could add things which i cant wait to see such as overdub on clips in same track and whatnot.. or they could make the crossfader work in an array which would allow different channels to have their own crossfades. im sure the bright minds in berlin have come up with more ideas and all i can say is if you wait you will get your crossfades but in an ableton way which i would always choose over other companies methods of technology implementation.

Is there anyone here who is used to using crossfades in something like Pro Tools that is arguing that they should NOT be in Live?

Just curious. It's hard to tell where each person is coming from who is posting. I'm missing the feature a lot, but I do like how live gets me doing things differently, so my mind is open as to how Live's approach could be better, I'm just not seeing it yet.

If you don't want the feature or disagree with what were discussing, then just don't say anything. Whats the point of you sticking your nose up to it? Thats the part i don't get.

Nobody deserves to be treated like were fuckin newbs either dude. How many records have you produced? How many of them are in stores? How many of them have been played on the radio in constant rotation? Who wants to sit around creating extra tracks for fades? You ever had a ableton project with 32 tracks dude? You think its easy to just throw another track on for a crossfade?? Its just that easy eh? You have no idea, dude.. you really don't..

Its your holier then though attitude dude, that makes people react to you the way they do. Step of your podium and maybe ill level with you. Until then..
Don't ever be surprised by the reactions you get from some of the fans here. "Dedicated user" takes on religious connotations in this forum.
