Has there ever been a generation that didn't think/hope that the world would end in their lifetime?

The only dude i can think off is nostradamus.
I think his bet is on WW3

then nostradamus is still alive.

just heard on the news "caltex reports record profits"

see that to me says loud and clear there is no problems with the supply, nothing to do with Iraq war etc, they are just putting prices up because they can. Prices have gone up a huge amount over the last ten years, yet every single time I hear a report about it the Oil/Petrol companies are enjoying "record profits"

My interpretation is different: there you have it, global warming induced biscuit failure.

yes, but you may have no choice several of Nostradamus' more ominous quatrains refer to 'the great star' and heat from the sky/double suns.

has anyone else heard about Mars - apparently on the 27th of this month it will be the closest it' been in thousands of years - supposedly in some places will appear almost as big as the moon - so I was told...

I heard this about mars a few years ago. I could see a huge red star, but it didn't look like the moon. It was a real treat though.

When I was a kid, I used to have reoccuring dreams of supernovas and exploding stars, always accompanied by a field of watchers, hanging out in the back of pick up trucks, on top of a giant hill...

Maybe by the equator, mars might be larger... I don't know, I think that has something to do with the atmosphere and distortion, but i wouldn't be surprised to see a giant red star in the sky.... just as long as there aren't any exploding stars or supernovas.

funny you say that - actually one of te main reasons alot of this stuff concerns me is because as long as I can remember I've had apocalyptic dreams - and I dont just mean end of the world fear stuff, but quite detailed things Like sailing up the river of my home city and it's all overgrown with forest after being destroyed years earlier - and that particular dream was more about how beautiful the scene was more than fear etc - and it's always stuck with me

but I have also got ALOT of post apocalyptic dreams over the years - being in places I know that have been totally changed and people living without plumbing/electricity etc - in England and Australia - my Australian dreams usually involve Chinese occupation, the England ones involve complete collapse of infrastructure

so there's some happy inroads into my twisted psyche for you!
