BT isn't my favorite, but I certainly like a lot of his music and think that he is very talented.

We all have different musical tastes...thank God...diversity in your musical interests is what shapes the music you create (or in my case, try to create 8O ). Regardless of whether you like or dislike BT's music, he is very talented...you don't accomplish what he has accomplished without a pretty good measure of talent and ability.

Saying BT is the P Diddy of electronic music is completely irresponsible. BT has talent...P Diddy has none and totally relies on the talent of others to make himself look good...I'll argue that all day long.

ok so lets argue it then. Piddy does cheesy music and self promotes the shit out his self just like Brian. What has Brian done that has been so amazing put a out 10 cd's that sound the same. The guy is lame his live shows suck. Just because someone has every piece of gear under the sun on stage and has it doing something doesnt make them good or as you say unbelievable. Some people are amazed by someone waving their hand over something to change a sound even thought the sound is stupid. I rather hear interesting music that evolves into something instead of a sound that i was sick of 8 years ago.

Wow, I totally disagree about his live shows and music. Even if you DON'T like his sound....the production is SICK...way detailed. And his DJ sets were pretty crowd-based. Honestly, he's one of the people that got me into Ableton...after I saw a laptop set of his I was amazed that someone could be that versitile with a computer.....thus ableton.

ok ok ok. I'm done joking around.

I'd be the first to admidt that the guy has talent! Of course he does, there's nothing technically wrong with what he's doing, I just don't like it.

y'know?

Of course i also think the guys who produce crappy teen pop have shit loads of talent.

but why does talent mean anything? I don't care if something takes a lot of talent or no talent to make. I care if i like it, and if it makes me feel something. It takes a lot of talent to play super fast pyrotechnical guitar solos, does that mean that everybody should value that as art? fuck no.

ok, I agree that the Live demo video was lame. But, to say his music is the same as 8 years ago is just way off base. The only commonality is the stutter effect and even that has evolved. If your not felling this album, ok, but he has evolved quite a bit.

yeah a few new hair styles. I dont understand how someone who plays such un - danceable music can cheerlead so hard. Pumping up the crowd for a over dramatic break down. I hate seeing people jumping up and down and yelling. I mean the guy can play some syths but like i said earlier he cant produce a beat to say his life. Thats why his stuff is so mellow cant make beats. Name me one track of his where you were amazed by the beats.

P-didiot's talent is in finding other talent and exposing it using his name...sometimes he "tries" to put a lyric or two on something, but dude can't even rap worth a sh!t. So what if someone promotes the shit out his self...nobody will hear your music if you don't promote yourself and even if you do promote the shit out of yourself, it doesn't mean anybody will like what you're selling...it's obvious that there are a few people that like what BT is selling and its not because he is self promoting the shit out of his self.

BT is a musician and composer, his music has cut across a few different genre's (house/techno/rap/pop)...he has scored a major motion picture pretty sucessfully and if you don't think some of the stuff he has done musically has influenced music in general you need to step away from the lithium prescription.
jdoty wrote:What has Brian done that has been so amazing put a out 10 cd's that sound the same.
Why don't you draw out the similarities between the tracks on Movement In Still Life and This Binary Universe for me then? I have quite a bit of difference in the music he does...all you have to do is listen to 10 Years In The Life to hear that his music has changed over the years.
jdoty wrote:The guy is lame his live shows suck.
Unfortunately, I've never been able to see him live, but you're entitled to your own opinion...there are lots of artists who sound good on a CD but suck live.
jdoty wrote:Just because someone has every piece of gear under the sun on stage and has it doing something doesnt make them good or as you say unbelievable.

I didn't see where I said BT was "unbelieveable" but I think have the ability to have every piece of gear under the sun on a stage and having them all doing something is pretty cool...I have trouble just synching up my three pieces of crappy gear...and to me, mastering the complexities of MIDI programming is a serious talent and I am envious of anyone who can
jdoty wrote:Some people are amazed by someone waving their hand over something to change a sound even thought the sound is stupid.
Hmmm, waving your hand over something to change the sound is pretty cool to me...I was just doing it two nights ago in my buddies studio with his Roland Fantom. Maybe you are just too complex in your musical tastes and knowledge to be amazed at such simplicity  but I think the ability to manipulate filters/envelopes/etc. using ultrasonic technology so the distance and movement of your hands moving around the ultrasonic source can shape your sound is pretty freaking cool.

Nothing wrong with disliking someone's music, I totally respect that we all have different likes and dislikes but don't tell me everything BT does sounds the same or BT has no talent...that is the easiest argument I'll ever be in.

I know it was a collab but Hip Hop phenomenon is still a landmark song for me. It has so much going on in it that it still sounds fresh to me.

That's funny, cuz TBU brings me to tears almost everytime I hear it. Intense joy, sorrow, love, grief all wrapped up in one.
